Nissan’s Rogue faces stiff competition, with its most formidable competitors being the Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CR-V. The Rogue doesn’t exhibit the same versatility that the RAV4 does, and it’s not as zippy as the Mazda CX-5. Nonetheless, the Rogue appeals to many buyers with its serene ride comfort and family-friendliness.

The 2020 Rogue features a 170-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine linked to a continuously variable automatic transmission. On the plus side, the Rogue is easy to drive. It’s also a decent choice for fuel economy with an EPA rating of up to 29 mpg. The downside is that the Rogue’s engine tends to drone at higher speeds, and some might find it boring to drive, as Car and Driver notes. That said, the 2021 version improves on these flaws.

The 2020 Murano imitates luxury more forcefully than the Rogue does. Even though many class rivals overshadow it, critics recognize the Murano for its plush ride quality. Additionally, it satisfies with its power.

All Muranos have the same 260-hp, 3.5-liter V6 paired to a CVT. The extra power translates into a notably quicker experience than the Rogue provides. Although, that does sacrifice fuel economy a bit. The Murano has an EPA rating of up to 23 mpg overall, which is average for the midsize SUV class.

Like the Rogue, the Murano is available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Most critics commend the Murano for its refinement. However, some say that its steering is vague, and driver’s visibility is limited.

Available cabin comforts

On the inside, the Rogue impresses with its stylish-looking cabin. And even though it’s a small SUV, the Rogue is generous in space. It has room for five and is a standout for available cargo storage. With the rear seats folded, the Rogue has 70 cubic feet of total cargo space. Additionally, you can dress up the Rogue’s interior with available amenities, including leather.

The Murano is also a five-seater, but it will give you more passenger space than the Rogue does. Additionally, the Murano’s interior looks more like an actual luxury car as you climb trim levels. But even the Murano is bigger; the Rogue has slightly more cargo room.

The Rogue and the Murano have lots of in car-tech. They both come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; the Rogue has a 7-inch touchscreen, and the Murano has an 8-inch one. The two SUVs also have a long list of advanced safety features, including forward-collision warning and pedestrian detection. The Murano has a longer list of standard features, though.

Should you get the Nissan Rogue or Murano?

The MSRP range of a 2020 Rogue is $25,490 – $33,190 while the 2020 Murano’s ranges from $31,730 – $45,530. If you’re looking for a good-value buy with solid fuel economy, the Rogue is the right choice for you. For more power and lavishness, go with the Murano.
