It’s Jeep Versus Everybody
Jeep is legendary for its stylish, adventure-ready vehicles. But now, Jeep wants to maintain its presence as the leader of off-roading machines and attract a new generation of loyal fans at the same time. The American automaker recently announced that it has a plan to target each of its primary competitors. The revamped Jeep SUV models will include electrified options and more lavish offerings.
How Jeep keeps its fans happy
Jeep’s impressive portfolio of high-performing SUVs attracted many fans, but it keeps them loyal by merely listening to their wants. Enthusiasts asked Jeep for a new truck, and the automaker delivered with the Jeep Gladiator. Fans also wondered if the new truck would have a diesel engine, and Jeep answered with an EcoDiesel option on the 2021 Gladiator.
Additionally, enthusiasts have wanted a V8 engine option on the Wrangler for years, and Jeep finally came through here too. The Wrangler will feature a 6.4-liter, V8. But no official date on when it will be released to the masses yet. We do know that the Wrangler enhancements are only intensifying the Ford Bronco rivalry.

Becoming a global leader with more electrified vehicles
Of course, Jeep wants to keep its loyal fans, but it’s also on a massive mission to attract brand-new ones. One way the automaker plans to do this is by adding more electric vehicles to its lineup. The automaker shared earlier in the year that all Jeep SUV models will have an electrified version by 2022. This plan will also help the automaker appeal more to consumers in China and Europe, as reported by AutoNews.
“We know electric vehicles are a much bigger deal with China,” analyst Karl Brauer said. “They’re going to be pushed more aggressively in China and in Europe than they are in the U.S. in the near term. So having electrification, and potentially an all-electric version of the Jeep, will be a key part of maintaining and building brand equity and brand power within those markets.”

Exciting hybrid options coming real soon
This year, Jeep announced that it would roll out hybrid, plug-in versions of its models sooner than later. We can expect to see the hybridized Wrangler stateside by the end of 2020. The hybridized versions of the Compass and Renegade will be Jeep’s initial focus in Europe.
“As long as it’s off-road-capable, and the hybridization of it increases the torque even a little bit, that’s right in their wheelhouse,” said Sam Fiorani, vice president of global vehicle forecasting for AutoForecast Solutions. “All they have to do is say, ‘Look how capable this thing is — and it gets better gas mileage?”

More luxury options too
Jeep is relaunching its luxury-focused Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer to compete with the likes of the Cadillac Escalade. In some ways, experts anticipate that the new Wagoneer models will be able to rival other upscale brands, including Land Rover. Plus, the upcoming three-row version of the Grand Cherokee will take on SUVs like the Chevy Tahoe.
