This is it. The 2023 Dodge Challenger and Charger are crossing the rainbow bridge. Because of that, tuners, too, won’t have access to the cars to soup them up into supercar stomping sedans that embarrass the best from around the world. Hennessey, a tuner known for pumping up everything from trucks to Vipers, has announced that its stunning H1000 Charger Hellcat will, also, disappear soon.

This is your last chance to get a tuned, 1,000-horsepower, Dodge Charger with a warranty.

What is the H1000 Charger Hellcat?

Hennessey takes an SRT-modded Hellcat and then adds a lot of tuner-specific goodies to it and then turns it loose on the streets. It’s kind of amazing that anyone with a driver’s license can get behind the wheel of one of these beasts. But, to be fair, it’s anyone with (at least) $135,000 to spend on a monster like this.

It’s an American car with a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 that makes 1,000 horsepower. It’s as quick from 0-60 mph as a $1.5 million Bugatti Veyron. Yet, it seats five in comfort and sounds like a WWII fighter plane when you get on the gas.

The H1000 Charger Hellcat has 1,000 horsepower

Cars like the H1000 Charger Hellcat aren’t about heated seats (though it has those) and plush leather (again, equipped). They’re about the numbers. Take some of these in:

How does Hennessey boost the Charger?

How does Hennessey get 1,000 horsepower from a Dodge V8? It starts with Dodge’s 707-horsepower Hellcat engine, and throws about everything but the block away. There’s a new pully for the supercharger, stainless steel long-tube exhaust, new catalytic converters, new injectors, a re-map of the computer, a high-flow intake and more wizardry. Then, Hennessey tests the car to make sure it makes the power, road tests it, and then slaps on a bunch of badges so everyone knows that you’re the alpha dog.

The regular Hellcat, if you can call any car like this regular, has 707 horsepower and can stomp almost anything short of supercars and purpose-built dragsters in the quarter mile. But, surprisingly, it’s also kind of nice, luxurious even, and you can take four of your friends along for the thrill ride. Since it’s a Charger family sedan, that means it has plenty of room, a big trunk, the easy-to-use Dodge uConnect system, and all of the creature comforts that you want. And it’ll go like stink.

The 2023 versions of this car will be the last, and that’s a shame. It comes in two flavors: the Widebody Jailbreak and the Redeye Jailbreak, for $81,390 or $89,990. For the Last Call versions, you can also get the King Daytona Special for 2023, which has a boost in horsepower to 807, but it’ll set you back a cool $100,000 if you can find one at your local dealer.
