Jaguar is one of the many automotive manufacturers with sights set on going fully electric. However, the company is actually a few steps ahead of most. The company aims to ax gasoline vehicles by 2025 completely and strictly offer an electric lineup. Certainly, there’s no shortage of backlash involved with that decision. However, to mark the 75th anniversary of Jaguar, the company is ending its gasoline vehicles with a bang. Literally.

Having first debuted in 2012, the current Jaguar F-type hasn’t changed much for having been around for a decade. What once was revolutionary now seems a bit tired and drawn out. Sure, it’s still a great car. However, it’s one of those situations where a little change is necessary. After all, having too much of a good thing is more than possible. Thankfully, Jaguar is giving it one last hoorah before the EV sports car revolution begins at the legendary British manufacturer’s plants.

According to Motor1, Jaguar is planning on introducing a special edition of the new Jaguar F-type that will serve as a facelifted update to the iconic lineup and mark Jaguar’s 75th anniversary, and be a celebration of everything the company has accomplished over the years.

“As we move toward 2023, we’ll be celebrating 75 years of Jaguar sports cars, and the F-Type will be the last internal combustion engine Jaguar sports car. It’ll be a wonderful celebration of what has been,’ said Jaguar Land Rover CEO Thierry Bolloré

Though Jaguar has yet to release any sort of specifics about the 2023 F-type or the special edition for the anniversary, it’s safe to assume that it’s likely going to be an all-out feat of engineering. Additionally, it’s safe to assume that it will retain the amazing-sounding V8 that’s under the hood of current F-type models.

Though it’s certainly sad to see the empire of gasoline-powered Jaguar vehicles come to an end, there are sure to be some exciting future EV offerings for the legendary brand.

Jaguar’s electric future already looks promising

Though Jaguar does not currently have an electric sports car in its lineup, it undoubtedly will in the near future.
Currently, the Jaguar I-Pace is the only electric offering from the British motoring legend. The I-Pace is a crossover SUV with low and modern styling and a hatchback-esque body profile. It’s capable of accelerating from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 4.8 seconds. Additionally, it has a charge range of nearly 300 miles.

Obviously, the I-pace doesn’t quite suit the desires of fans of Jaguar sports cars. However, with the outgoing F-type and discontinuation of the company’s flagship sedan, the XJ, it’s safe to assume that Jaguar has something special in the works.

Additionally, Bolloré stated in an interview that Jaguar’s new EVs will use a new platform currently under development. According to his statements, the company expects to have test mules on the road relatively soon. So, we may not have to wait as long as one might think to get in on some electric Jaguar sports car action.
