The Jeep Cherokee Isn’t Discontinued and Is Returning Soon
There’s exciting news for the Jeeper community. The Jeep Cherokee isn’t dead, it’s just taking a small hiatus. Soon, the 2025 Jeep Cherokee will make a triumphant return. Let’s see what to expect with the new Cherokee.
Everything you need to know about the 2025 Jeep Cherokee
The 2025 Jeep Cherokee seems to be coming out of left field. Stellantis has been tight-lipped about the Cherokee, leaving many to assume that it would be discontinued again.
It has been neglected for a bit as the current generation dates back to 2014. It seems like every other model in the Jeep lineup has recently received a fresh look and tons of upgrades.
Some of the dead weight, such as the beloved Jeep Renegade has been trimmed, leaving space for the new Cherokee to arrive.
It’s expected to have similar design cues to the larger Jeep Grand Cherokee with a smushed grille and sleek LED headlights. Only there probably won’t be a three-row option.
To live up to its heritage, the 2025 Cherokee will need to pack true off-roading capabilities. Also, some rumors suggest that the Cherokee name will be changed. But the Grand Cherokee isn’t changing, so I find this to be unlikely.
The new Cherokee will ride on the STLA platform and it’s safe to expect updated powertrain options. It will probably have a hybrid and a PHEV variant.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe pairs a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with a 17.3-kWh battery and two electric motors to generate 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. It has an EPA-estimated all-electric range of 26 miles.
Because the regular Cherokee is smaller, it may have less power. But it could also have more range and a slightly better fuel economy.
The Grand Cherokee 4xe starts at $38,305 and the 4xe model takes the price up to $60,490. However, the regular Cherokee isn’t expected to be luxurious like its bigger brother.
Hopefully, prices will start at about $28,000, to make it a more affordable option that slots between the Jeep Wrangler and Compass.
The 2023 Cherokee starts at $37,695, which is ridiculous compared to the Grand Cherokee with its modern tech and upgrades. The high price could be part of why the Cherokee faces stagnant sales.
Stellantis understands that prices are a little high at the moment, and has provided a few rollbacks. Stay tuned for updates, the 2025 Jeep Cherokee could debut soon.
