We have some intriguing and potentially disappointing news about the Jeep Gladiator 4xe. It’s being pushed back. We might not see the Jeep Gladiator 4xe until 2024 after getting excited over its teaser images. 

The Jeep Gladiator 4xe faces a delay 

Jeep is quickly going electric, with plans to offer an electrified 4xe of each of the brand’s models by 2025. We thought it was up next based on seeing a few teaser images of what seemed like the Jeep Gladiator 4xe with blue accents. 

But according to Mopar Insiders, the Gladiator is being pushed back until 2024 so that Jeep can focus on more pressing projects. But what could be more important than the Jeep truck? We have a few theories to go on. 

The Gladiator needs Wrangler updates 

In 2023 the Jeep Wrangler is due for a mid-cycle refresh. The Jeep Gladiator 4xe is expected to gain similar styling tweaks and updates from the new Wrangler. But time is ticking, and 2022 is only weeks away. 

Shouldn’t the refreshed Wrangler already be underway? Sure, it has more competition than before, with the new Ford Bronco tackling the wild. But mid-cycle refreshes don’t typically involve significant upgrades. 

A mid-cycle refresh for a vehicle generally involves a new headlight and front bumper design with some tech enhancements. To match the ride quality of the Ford Bronco, the Jeep Wrangler will need a lot of work. 

Also, the Wrangler is still considered to be the better off-roader. The plot thickens because Jeep is rumored to provide its first electric vehicle by the first half of 2023. 

This makes us wonder if the Jeep Gladiator 4xe was put on pause for the arrival of something brand new, like the Jeep Magneto. It’s an electrifying Wrangler concept with a manual transmission. That’s right, a fully electric Jeep with a manual. 

This Magneto concept was based on a primarily stock Wrangler. However, the 3.6-liter V6 was replaced by an electric motor that generates 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The electric motor connects to a six-speed manual transmission through a pedal-operated clutch. 

It responds in a way that’s similar to the gasoline engine it replaces. Only it’s faster. Reportedly, the Magneto can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.8 seconds. 

What about other 4xe models? 

We have the Jeep Wrangler 4xe and the Grand Cherokee 4xe. Other countries have the Renegade 4xe and Compass 4xe. It seems like we’re only waiting on the Jeep Gladiator 4xe and Wagoneer 4xe. 

But we might see something smaller first. Rumors suggest that the first fully electric Jeep could be smaller than the Renegade. But we would be more excited over a fully electric Renegade. It’s been almost the same since 2014, and it’s time for an update. 

Perhaps the smaller Jeep EV could be twinned with a crossover from Alfa Romeo or Fiat. Stallantis is also introducing four electric platforms to cover almost all of the vehicles across the company’s 14 brands. 

So, perhaps we will see the first electric Jeep before the Jeep Gladiator 4xe. Stellantis can go electric while other models catch up to the 4xe tag. We will have to wait to learn more. For now, all we can confirm is that shocking vehicles are in the pipeline.
