Jeep knows that one of its most iconic movie cars ever was the Wrangler YJ in the original Jurassic Park. Those original Wranglers spawned thousands of clones. Chances are there’s one in your town. They’re cute, they’re fun, and they’re cool. So, could Jeep pass on putting its SUVs in the new Jurassic World Dominion movie? Not for a second.

What Jeeps are in ‘Jurassic World Dominion?’

Jurassic Park was built by jeeps. We know there are tons of jeeps in the new film, too. The Gladiator truck, four-door Wrangler and a vintage Grand Wagoneer are all in the movie. They’re joined by a black Triumph Scrambler Motorcycle and a Ford F-150 pickup truck. To us, they’re the stars, not Jeff Goldblum or the Giganotosaurus.

The Jeep Wrangler has long been a staple of the Jurassic movies, and the new Jurassic World Dominion is no different.

Jeep is sinking its teeth into the movie

For the film Jeep has launched new 60-second and 30-second commercials. In the new commercial, it shows a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe as the traveling companion for a baby Carnotaurus. The Carnotaurus was made just for the commercial and it’s not in the films. But, Jeep is hosting special events for Jeep Wave members. It will air in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

The vintage Wagoneer plays a supporting role

The Grand Wagoneer in the film is cool, sure, but it’s a far cry from the Grand Wagoneer we get today. The original Jeep Wagoneer debuted in 1963, followed by a Super Wagoneer in 1966. The Super Wagoneer lasted until 1969. That was the upscale version of the classic Jeep Wagoneer, according to MotorTrend. The Super Wagoneer was so impressive and loaded with high-end features that MotorTrend says it soon cost “nearly three times the average transaction price of an entry-level automobile.”

It’s probably no surprise that the new Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer have more power than the classic Jeep Wagoneer. The old Wagoneer had a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine that made 140 hp. The 1984 Jeep Grand Wagoneer had a 5.9-liter V8 engine that made 140 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. There was also a 4.2-liter straight six engine available.

The Wrangler is cool, but the Gladiator can bring the tailgate

The Gladiator is Jeep’s midsized pickup truck. It’s based on the Wrangler, and looks like a Wrangler, and even drives like one. The Gladiator is slightly longer than a Wrangler, which hurts its off-road agility somewhat, but the bed adds so much extra utility it’s a wash. Fun fact: the Gladiator is the only new American-brand truck that is available with a manual transmission. We’re expecting Jeep to release a new 4xe, electric, Gladiator soon.
