Driving a vehicle with a manual transmission can be pretty satisfying. After all, a manual transmission allows you to be a bit more hands-on than an automatic transmission. But when it comes to the new Jeep lineup, which models have a manual transmission? Unfortunately, not that many.

What Jeeps come with a manual transmission?

Up until recently, the Jeep Wrangler, Gladiator, and the Jeep Compass were all standard with a manual transmission. Unfortunately, Car and Driver reports that Jeep nixed the Compass’s manual transmission in favor of an automatic transmission just last year. According to Car and Driver, the Jeep Compass’s manual transmission was previously standard on the base Sport trim with either front- or all-wheel drive. It was also standard on the all-wheel-drive Latitude model.

Nowadays, there are only two Jeep models offered with a manual transmission. The first is the iconic Jeep Wrangler, which comes standard with a manual transmission. The 2021 Jeep Gladiator also comes standard with a stick-shift, making it the ideal pick for pickup shoppers on the hunt for a Jeep truck with a manual transmission.

The Jeep Wrangler comes standard with a manual transmission

At the heart and soul of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler is a 3.6-liter V6 engine. Paired with a six-speed manual transmission, Car and Driver reports that in its tests, a base two-door Wrangler Sport with a V6 under the hood and the six-speed manual transmission sprinted from zero to 60 mph in just 6.1 seconds. 

Fortunately, a standard manual transmission isn’t all that the Jeep Wrangler has going for it. As you might imagine, this iconic SUV is more than capable of taking on the trails and is available with Jeep’s Rock-Trac 4×4 System, which is offered in both full-time 4×4 and part-time 4×4. This year’s model can also be had with off-road-ready features like an Off-Road+ button, steel skid plates, front and rear Tru-Lok electronic locking differentials, and an Electronic Sway Bar Disconnect system. 

For a pickup with a stick-shift, choose the Jeep Gladiator

Say the 2021 Jeep Wrangler isn’t the right fit for you. Perhaps it’s a pickup truck with a manual transmission that you’re after. Fortunately, Jeep offers just that. Much like the Wrangler, this year’s new Jeep Gladiator comes standard with a manual transmission. It also comes driven by a 3.6-liter V6 engine. 

What else does the 2021 Jeep Gladiator have to offer? Fortunately, a lot. Like the Jeep Wrangler, the 2021 Gladiator is more than capable of getting down and dirty at the trails. It’s able to tow up to 7,760-pounds when properly equipped too. And, it’s available with a long list of features, including an available 4G WiFi hotspot. What’s not to like about that?

Is a used Jeep with a manual transmission worth buying?

Now, the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Gladiator are both current models. Say you want a Grand Cherokee with a manual transmission. If that’s the case, then you’re going to have to buy a used Jeep. Fortunately, there are plenty of used Jeep models out there, many of which come outfitted with a stick-shift. So if you aren’t sold on the 2021 Jeep Wrangler or this year’s new Jeep Gladiator?
