Jeep is an iconic automotive brand, and its most famous model is the Wrangler. This legendary SUV’s popularity is unsurprising due to its decades-long history, and it recently celebrated a milestone. Here’s a look at the historic 5 millionth Wrangler sold and what Jeep did for the lucky buyer of that landmark vehicle.

Although the Wrangler’s history dates back to World War II, the first model differs significantly from the SUV on dealership lots today. Stellantis, Jeep’s parent company, says the current Wrangler version has been in production since 1986. That makes the Wrangler almost 40 years old, which explains why 5 million units have been sold.

The Wrangler is in its fifth generation, which began in 2017. As with any generational updates, the current Wrangler also brought new technologies to the nameplate. For example, the Wrangler came with a mild-hybrid engine, and a couple of years into the fifth generation, Jeep debuted a plug-in hybrid powertrain option. Indeed, the 5 millionth customer bought a Wrangler PHEV.

The owner of the 5 millionth Wrangler made history, but they didn’t know beforehand they had purchased such a special vehicle. Not much is known about this lucky customer. However, Stellantis revealed the owner’s Wrangler configuration and the city where the SUV was sold: Camden, New Jersey.

Even though the 2024 Wrangler is available at dealerships, the lucky buyer purchased a 2023 model instead. Specifically, it’s a 4xe Rubicon 20th Anniversary Edition. They also chose a relatively unique exterior color, “Earl” gray. The automaker introduced that shade for the 2023 model year.

Because the 5 millionth buyer chose the 4xe Rubicon 20th Anniversary Edition, they likely spent a lot of money. Even the Rubicon 20th Anniversary Edition’s base model is an expensive Wrangler, costing well over $100,000. So, the final price of this historic Wrangler was likely even higher.

In addition, the 4xe is the name of the electrified Wrangler PHEV, implying the New Jersey customer is eco-conscious. That powertrain allows the SUV to get 49 MPGe, making it the most fuel-efficient in the lineup. Plus, the vehicle boasts numerous upgrades because the 5 millionth Wrangler is a Rubicon trim.

Here’s how Jeep spoiled the lucky owner

Whoever bought the historic 5 millionth Wrangler is likely happy with their purchase. But Jeep spoiled them by giving them a few extras. The owner gets $5,000 worth of parts. They’re not just run-of-the-mill parts but Jeep Performance Parts from Mopar

Additionally, the automaker gave the owner a lifetime membership to the Jeep Wave program. That’s Jeep’s owner loyalty program, so the lucky buyer should be able to save money in the long run. But because their Wrangler likely cost over six figures, these financial perks are probably just nice add-ons for them.
