The Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer Are Already Being Recalled – Again
The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are Jeep’s newest three-row SUVs, though they aren’t a brand new idea. Considered one of the first SUVs, the original Jeep Wagoneer was retired in the 90s, only to be brought back again now. They’re the largest SUVs Jeep offers, and they rival behemoths like the Chevy Suburban and Ford Expedition Max. While many have been looking forward to the return of the Wagoneer, it seems that its revival is not without problems. The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer are being recalled just shortly after their debut, and it isn’t the first time they’ve been recalled.

RECALL: All the Brand New SUV Models for 2022
Both the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer are being recalled. It’s not a surprise that if one has a problem, the other does, as they share a platform and mechanics. In fact, the differences between the two SUVs lie in their features and options, with the Grand Wagoneer being the luxury version of the Wagoneer.
The Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are being recalled due to their seats not locking properly, which can be dangerous. The second-row center seat’s recliner strap can bind to the seat’s trim, keeping the seat from properly locking, according to Consumer Affairs. If the seat isn’t properly locked, it can become dangerous in a car accident.
This isn’t the first time that the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer have been recalled
RECALL: The Top 3-Row SUVs Coming Out in 2022
Even though the return of the Wagoneer is still in its infancy, this isn’t the first time that the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are recalled. Recently, Chrysler had to recall both SUVs due to a software issue. Without any notice, the airbag system was becoming disabled. This means that it wouldn’t activate in the event of a crash. Obviously, that’s a major safety issue. The recall was issued to fix the problem.
If your 2022 Jeep Wagoneer or 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is one of the SUVs impacted, you can contact Chrysler customer service at (800) 853-1403. You should receive a notification in January of 2022, as notices are being mailed on January 12. When you bring your SUV in for the fix, Chrysler will inspect and replace the rear center-seat recliner strap. This won’t cost you a thing.
How much does the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer cost?
The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer price starts at $68,845. The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer price starts at $86,995. That’s the bottom of the MSRP range, which goes up to $103,995. With both SUVs being on the pricier side, it may be especially disappointing to learn that they’re on their second recalls. Hopefully, Jeep and Chrysler are able to fix the problems with these two SUVs so that those looking for the SUV of their childhood – or a brand new luxury three-row SUV – can have one without any major problems.
The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer recalls are certainly disappointing. However, the style is certainly appealing, and the luxurious Grand Wagoneer is nice enough to make you want to forget the recalls. Until crash test ratings come out, it’s hard to judge the overall safety of the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, but hopefully this will be the last recall.
