Jeep-Worthy Tasks You Didn’t Expect From a Smart Car

You might compare a Smart Car to a fast golf cart. There isn’t much to love about the car from the get-go, in fact, there is only a very specific niche of people who like them. Surprisingly made by Mercedes-Benz, Smart Cars are neither fast nor luxurious. They are pretty basic inside and out and don’t offer much space or comfort. Sure, they make a great option for a daily driver if you make small trips around town or live in a big city, but chances are it won’t be your first, second, or even last choice if you like to take your car on adventures like overlanding.

An unsuspecting off-road option

Have you ever looked at the small little go-kart wanna-be and though, “man, I’d really like to take that off-roading“? No? Neither have we. Apparently, someone has, and you’d be surprised to see that it’s surprisingly capable…

Alright, you got me. It’s not capable at all. In fact, it just goes to reassure us that the Smart Car was really designed to be a basic car to get from point A to point B.

A stunt even Evel Knievel would pass on

Some readers may be too young to remember who the famous stunt man Evel Knievel is, but for those of us who do, we remember a fearless icon. A team on YouTube just used the Smart Car for a stunt so ridiculous even the infamous stunt man might pass on. They attempted to jump a swimming pool with a Smart Car. While that might not sound like much, in fact, it’s a task most dirt bikes could handle with confidence, it surprisingly makes it into the pool.

The not so Smart Car

That’s right, the Smart Car didn’t really manage to jump the entire pool, as you could expect. While the cars are small, they aren’t really that lightweight, and they definitely don’t go fast. The team wasn’t able to get the car to go fast enough up the ramp, but they did manage to nose dive into the pool in a pretty hilarious video.

While the pool-jump stunt goes pretty much exactly how you would imagine, it’s still fun to watch it attempt some Jeep-level stunts. The video creators seemed to be pretty optimistic about the outcome even if the car didn’t quite make it over the pool — but then again, they probably didn’t expect the Smart Car to make it, either.
