Jeep Wrangler Gets Stuck in a Hilariously Ironic Scene In NYC
The Jeep Wrangler is one of the most capable SUVs on the planet. That’s why when we see one stuck in a silly way, it hurts a little. The venerable Jeep shouldn’t be stuck with its pants down because someone poorly drove it through a mud hole. No matter how much we love seeing a Wrangler triumph, Jeep drivers (including myself) can’t help but do dumb stuff with Jeeps. However, this poor Wrangler wrote the jokes for itself when it got stuck in an open manhole with a decal reading “CR4WL3R” stuck down the side of the hood.
How did this Jeep Wrangler get stuck in a manhole?

When driving off-road, everyone knows there is a chance you might get stuck. This is why winches exist. However, when driving through NYC, most people aren’t thinking about getting stuck. CarScoops reported the story of one man who drove his lifted, beefed-out Wrangler through the metropolis recently when he failed to notice an open manhole that swallowed his driver’s side front tire whole. While he probably shouldn’t have driven his truck into an open manhole, the embarrassing part is that his Jeep had clearly been built for off-roading and still couldn’t handle the pickle it found itself in.
Making matters so much worse, the driver had put a decal down the side that said “CR4WL3R.” There is no judgment for the sticker alone, but it is on the side of the truck as a group of New Yorkers try to explain how to use 4WD; it is a bit too ironic not to comment.
How did the Jeep get unstuck?
New Yorkers wear the reputation of being hard-nosed and mean. While this certainly can be true, New Yorkers will also look out for one another in a way unfamiliar to most Americans. A crowd quickly formed around the Jeep to help. Although their pushing efforts weren’t really needed once 4WD was engaged, the crew gave it their best all the same. The heartwarming scene exploded into cheers when the Jeep unstuck itself.
The situation was resolved, and everyone went home safely. However, the driver’s ego must be bruised after having such a decked-out Jeep get stuck in such a silly way, especially in such a public place as NYC.
Jeep drivers catch a lot of grief
Look, no matter which way you cut it, this scene was too funny and ironic not to poke some fun. However, Jeep drivers catch a lot of flak from the car world. We tend to think that if someone has a beefy Jeep, they should be an off-road enthusiast who never gets stuck. We leave very little room for people who just dig the aesthetic. While I often take part in the jokes, I recognize that it isn’t all that fair. How often do we see someone in a sports car all built out and expect them to be able to turn a hot lap? Basically never.
On the other hand, when Jeep drivers do their thing off-road, they often catch a lot of grief, too. The Jeep Wrangler in a manhole is such an iconic rig that no matter what you do with it, there is no shortage of people who think you should have done something different. All you have to do is drive your Jeep, have fun, and be safe.
