Let’s be honest; the Jeep Wrangler has changed a pretty good bit over the years. The once spartan and rugged, purpose-built off-roader is now a four-door SUV with touch screens and an air conditioner – that even probably works most of the time. I barely even recognize the Wrangler anymore. It’s closer to a Land Rover than it is to the classic Wrangler. Even though the Wrangler has grown over the years, it doesn’t even come close to this homemade Jeep Wrangler 4×4 limo that has recently popped up for sale. Although, given the way things are going, this doesn’t seem so far off. Either way, if someone doesn’t buy this to rent out for a Nashville bachelorette-party ride, I will. 

Why do so many people have bachelorette parties in Nashville? 

Wait, that’s not what we are here to talk about. Jeeps. We are here to talk about Jeeps. Specifically, this insane home-stretched Jeep Wrangler limo. That’s right, according to Motor1, this wild Wrangler recently came up for sale on IronPlanet, an Australian car-classifieds site. 

This homemade limo started life as a 1997 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The second-generation Wrangler has, arguably the most iconic Jeep motors, the 4.0-liter inline six-cylinder paired with a five-speed manual transmission. This engine is known to be particularly tough, and the stretch Wrangler’s odometer proves it with 160,981 miles on the dash. 

What did they do to stretch this Jeep?

Motor1 reports that the Jeep has been stretched 169 inches from its original shape. If you have ever ridden in the back seat of a Wrangler, you might be thinking that was a much-needed improvement to the original two-door. 

Part of what made the YJ and TJ Jeeps such popular off-roaders is the fact that they were so short. That short and fairly narrow wheelbase may have made them touchy at highway speeds, but damn if it didn’t make them unstoppable in harder to reach places off the beaten path. That shortness gave them tremendous break-over and departure angles and more nimble footing for narrower trails. Needless to say, this stretched Jeep is likely going to need a different style of life. Instead of trail maps, it may need a list of the best honkytonks for the Nashville bachelorettes. 

Did stretching the Jeep mess it up? 

The listing seems to clearly lay out the current condition of the truck. It lists various bumps and bruises like a dent on the left rear door and a nonfunctioning horn. The listing also says that the check engine light and airbag light are both stuck on. Now I can only imagine whatever the owner had to do to convert this wrangler into the Bachelorette machine likely caused this array of warning lights to shine. Essentially all the seller guarantees is that that the vehicle is operational. Given the modifications here, I wouldn’t even know how to begin to assess and then convey any sort of build quality to a prospective buyer other than “ operational.”  

The Jeep Wrangler is a Lego car

Although this limo conversion is pretty wild, it really isn’t all that surprising when you look at the Jeeping world. People have turned Jeeps into almost anything you can imagine. People have been Jeep tanks, Steam-powered Jeeps, six-wheeled versions, and so, so much more. 

The fact that someone took one of these Lego mobiles and turned it into a limo is less surprising than if Jeep made one that simply comfortable. For as long as the Wrangler is around, folks will keep turning them into other things other than Jeeps. That’s the fun! And besides, how else will the bachelorette parties get around Nashville?
