Jeep is going green. The brand traditionally reveals a lineup of concept vehicles at its annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari. 2022’s Jeep concept vehicles are the most environmentally friendly lineup yet. Here’s what Stellantis said.

“This year, 10 distinctive Jeep brand and JPP concept vehicles are equipped with an array of advanced powertrains. The notable lineup is punctuated by the triumphant return of Jeep Wrangler Magneto, the first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) concept from the Jeep brand. The even more powerful and capable Jeep Wrangler Magneto 2.0 and four additional Jeep 4xe concept vehicles are testament to the Jeep brand’s commitment to Zero Emission Freedom.”

Jeep Magneto 2.0 Concept

Jeep’s first electric 4×4 concept was its Jeep Wrangler Magneto. The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Magneto had a single 285 horsepower electric motor and a six-speed manual transmission. Jeep carefully placed the vehicle’s four battery packs to fine-tune its weight distribution. Other goodies installed on this two-door Wrangler included an electric winch and biometric sensors to confirm the driver’s identity for keyless starting.

Now, for 2024, the Magneto is back. Jeep’s press release has only told us that the Jeep Wrangler Magneto 2.0 will be “more powerful and capable” than the original. It looks like Jeep removed the winch or tucked it behind the grille. The Magneto 2.0 also has new rims and a black canvas “Bimini” style top. Will it have an extended range, perhaps from solid-state batteries? Or will it have multiple electric motors capable of Rivian R1T-style torque vectoring? And will this Jeep offer rear-wheel steer like the Hummer EV? We’ll just have to wait to find out.

Jeep ’41 Concept

1941 was an important year for Jeep. The Willy company had landed the Allied Forces’ contract for a nimble 4×4, designed the first Jeep, and began shipping it to forces in Europe. American manufacturing churned out Jeeps until the Germans began to suspect Detroit had built one for every G.I. The little off-roader transported countless troops through Europe’s broken infrastructure and was instrumental in an Allied victory.

The modern Wrangler is the product of incremental changes to that original Willys Jeep. It looks like Jeep will be honoring this heritage at the Easter Jeep Rally in Moab with the Jeep ’41 concept. Its flat green paint and tan interior give the concept a decidedly military style. Its Rubicon name is written as a serial number: RU31-CON. This isn’t Jeep’s first throwback concept, but it is different: the Jeep ’41 is a plug-in hybrid, its base chassis is the electrified Rubicon 4xe.

Jeep Birdcage

Just like the Jeep ’41, the Jeep Wrangler “Birdcage” concept began life as a 4xe Wrangler Unlimited. The similarities between the two builds ends there. Instead of a celebration of 80 years of Jeep history, the Birdcage imagines the future of a the open-air off-roader and showcases the best accessories Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) has to offer.

You might have noticed this Wrangler’s tires first. The Birdcage rides on 37-inch off-road tires on Beadlock rims. JPP made room for all this rubber with a 2-inch lift and FOX shock absorbers. Next, you might have noticed its lack of windshield: JPP engineered a cowl to fill the wiper gap and protect the dashboard.
