Joe Rogan is well known for his wide-ranging work, from UFC commentator, to Fear Factor host, to comedian, to podcaster. While other comedians’ love of cars has been shared on their shows like Jay Leno’s Garage and Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with Jerry Seinfeld, you may not know Joe Rogan is a car lover too. He has a particular interest in powerful cars, tracing back to his earliest car. Here’s a look at his career and car collection.

Joe Rogan’s career

Born August 11, 1967, in Newark, New Jersey, Rogan grew up in California, Florida, and Massachusetts. He played baseball and took karate as a kid. He then took up taekwondo and won the U.S. Open Taekwondo Championships as a lightweight when he was 19. He started amateur kickboxing but quit after getting frequent headaches. He attended the University of Massachusetts Boston but didn’t graduate.

In 1988, he started as a stand-up comedian in Boston. He soon moved to New York and then Los Angeles, where he performed at The Comedy Store and starred on the NBC sitcom NewsRadio from 1995 to 1999.

In 2001, he became the host of Fear Factor. He started working as a UFC color commentator in 2002 and also hosted a UFC TV show called Inside the UFC. He’s also done several comedy specials and hosted other shows.

In 2009, along with friends, Rogan launched a podcast. By 2010, it was called The Joe Rogan Experience. On the popular podcast, Rogan discusses various topics with his often-famous guests. He has also made a cameo in a movie and released a book.

Joe Rogan’s first cars

Rogan’s first two cars were from Japanese brands, the very first being the Mk. IV Toyota Supra. Toyota produced this fourth-generation sports car from 1993 to 1998.

The car was styled with rounded curves and a large rear wing. It had two engine choices: a 3.0-liter inline-six engine with 220 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque or the celebrated 2JZ-GTE engine, a twin-turbocharged inline-six engine with 320 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque.

As his career progressed, Rogan upgraded to the Acura NSX. After these two cars, he moved on to the Porsche 911 996 Turbo, followed by the Porsche 997 GT3, then the customized Porsche GT3 RS he has today.

Love of muscle cars

Rogan is a big fan of muscle cars and has owned several over the years. He owns a restomod (restored and modified) 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with a great V8 engine. Steve Strope at Pure Vision in LA handled the design and engineering work on the Stingray for Rogan. Rogan then had the chance to show off the car when he appeared on Jay Leno’s Garage in 2015.

In addition to the Stingray, Rogan also used to own a restomod 1970 Plymouth Barracuda. This car has a V8 Chrysler Hemi engine installed. The redesign of the Barracuda was done by automobile designer Chip Foose, of the car restoration show Overhaulin’.

The actual rebuild was handled by Troy Trepanier, owner of Rad Rides in Illinois. Rogan found the car was more a showpiece than one great to drive though, and he sold it to another collector. By then, the car’s suspension had fallen off the frame.

Rogan also owns a 2014 Ford Mustang plus non-muscle cars from Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. And, he does own an SUV to use when driving around with his family.

Rogan has an eclectic career in the entertainment industry, but he’s clearly a car person at heart. He gets a chance to talk about his love of cars with some of his podcast guests, even buying a Tesla Model S P100D after having Elon Musk on the show.
