On September 16, a police officer in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, noticed a white limousine driving very slowly. After running the tags, which came back invalid, the officer initiated a traffic stop. Unfortunately, instead of stopping, the limo driver took off. The chase ultimately required the help of a local K9…who wasn’t the only one doing the biting.

The Pleasant Prairie Police Department, located on the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan, shared cruiser and body cam footage of the resulting pursuit.

The limo driver accelerates toward and around local traffic, which had paused for a slowing school bus moving in the opposite direction. Soon after, the driver loses control of the limo and ends up in a wooded ditch. Then, the suspect exits the limo and takes off on foot.

The officer finds the driver in a nearby wood. The suspect fails to heed the officer’s instructions and stumbles off deeper into the brush. Eventually, the cop physically tussles with the suspect. During the scuffle, the officer mentions the suspect biting him. The officer calls for help multiple times.

A K9 named Chase arrives. The on-duty pup runs to the suspect and bites him on the arm. Between three officers and the K9, the arrest is made.

It turns out the suspect, a 37-year-old Portage, Wisconsin, resident, had several outstanding warrants and was already a convicted felon. In the limo, officers found enough of a Schedule II drug plus a scale to justify an “intent to distribute” charge.

Police booked the suspect under “Flee/Eluding,” “Battery to Officer,” “1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety,” “Resisting an Officer,” “Possession with Intent to Deliver (Methamphetamine),” “Carrying Concealed Knife by a Felon,” “Felony Bail-Jumping,” and “multiple warrants.”

The Pleasant Prairie Police Department shared that for his efforts, the K9, Chase, was treated to a Culver’s ButterBurger.
