KBB’s 5 Best 2023 3-Row SUVs so Far
Several manufacturers have announced, released, or are even selling, 2023 SUVs already. Kelly Blue Book is updating its best-of list and sprinkling in the 2022s and 2023. But, we know you don’t want to buy an SUV that’s a year old right off the lot, you want the newest you can get. So, for 2023, the best three row SUVs include the BMW X5, the Hyundai Palisade, and the trio of full-sized GM SUVs.
2023 BMW X5 has an optional third row
Unlike the others on this list, the 2023 BMW X5 isn’t born with three rows, but you can add one which boosts the capacity to seven. When you need to fit in two more butts, the tight third-row makes sense. The base X5 sDrive40i starts at $61,600, while the all-wheel drive xDrive40i is $63,900. BMW went the sporty route with its SUVs and compared to the others on this list, the BMW may perform the best on tight twisty roads, especially in the hot x5 M50i tim for $85,400 and ranks as KBB’s best 2023 three-row SUV (so far).
The 2023 Hyundai Palisade was completely redesigned
The previous version of the Hyundai Palisade swept awards up like a Dyson. For 2023, Hyundai fully remodeled the Palisade for 2023 and offer as many safety and luxury features as the company can pack into its successful three-row, eight-passenger, SUV. The Palisade now has a standard 12.3-inch navigation screen and many of the features that you’d expect in the segment. The Palisade can be ordered with a wi-fi hotspot, power third-row seats that fold flat, USB-C chargers, and new monitors that will alert you if there’s movement in the back of the SUV.
The new Palisade also has a digital key that lets an owner use their phone, or even smartwatch, and leave the actual key at home. You can configure the Palisade as an 8-passenger SUV, or with two captain’s chairs for seven.
2023 Chevrolet Tahoe has truck capability
General Motors’ cheapest full-sized SUV is the Chevy Tahoe, based on the Silverado truck. Since this SUV is a classic body-on-frame truck, it offers a lot of capability, like a towing capacity of 8,400 pounds, and an optional 6.2-liter V8. The Tahoe Also offers Chevy Safety Assist and adaptive cruise control.
2023 GMC Yukon is like a luxury Tahoe
The Yukon slots between the Chevy Tahoe and Cadillac Escalade on price, and with options. It can be ordered with GMC Pro Safety Plus driver’s aid packages, and like the Tahoe it can also tow a lot, but only 8,200 pounds. Fans of diesels will appreciate that for 2023 the 3.0-liter turbo diesel is still available in the Yukon and luxury Yukon Denali, according to GM.
2023 Cadillac Escalade is GM’s ultimate SUV
General Motors’ plan with the 2023 Escalade is to take a Tahoe and then add several cows worth of premium leather, a data center worth of technology, and then make it ride as smooth as they can with the Magnetic Ride Control or Air Ride Adaptive Suspension. The 2023 Cadillac Escalade comes standard with the 420-horsepower V8, but a 3.0-liter turbo diesel is also available. And, like its siblings, it’s immensely capable with an 8,000-pound tow rating and 142 cubic feet of cargo space.
