Keanu Reeves is one of the most down-to-earth, relatable celebrities. He’s also a notable motorcycle enthusiast. The John Wick actor has loved to ride since he was a young adult. Recently, a fan asked Reeves which motorcycle he’d add to his collection next, and the Matrix star did not disappoint.

Keanu Reeves says his dream motorcycle is a Vincent Black Shadow

In a recent Reddit AMA (“Ask Me Anything”) interview, Reeves fielded questions from fans. One asked, “What motorcycles are you currently riding the most, and what are you eyeing up to add to your collection next?”

Reeves responded, “Ooooweeee! Currently my Arch motorcycle and … I always dreamed of having a Vincent Black Shadow … one can always dream.” 

Reeves’ dream bike goes faster than most cars and debuted decades ago. Known as the first true superbike, the Vincent Black Shadow quickly broke records and was one of the most advanced bikes of its time.

The motorcycle features a cantilever rear suspension system and adjustable levers, footpegs, pedals, and seat heights. And it weighs only 460 pounds. Production ended in 1955, making the Black Shadow a rare and valuable antique bike. They certainly don’t come cheap — one 1952 model sold in 2018 for almost $1 million.

Reeves has owned various motorcycles, including sportbikes, choppers, and cruisers.

“Riding your bike is one of the greatest things you can do to clear your head and just feel the speed and the motion,” the actor told Riderswest in 2015. He began riding at age 22. “I was filming in Munich, Germany, at this film studio, and this young girl had a gorgeous [Kawasaki] Enduro motorcycle which she would drive around. One day, I asked her to teach me how to ride it. So I started to ride that bike around the stage when she wasn’t using it, and when I got back to Los Angeles, I got the first bike I saw that was similar.”

After that, Reeves purchased a canary-yellow circa-1971 Norton Commando. Then came a 1973 Norton Commando. The actor has also owned Suzuki sportbikes and Harley-Davidson cruisers.

Eventually, he met a motorcycle builder, Gard Hollinger. In 2011, they founded Arch Motorcycle Company after Hollinger created a one-off Harley-Davidson for the actor. Arch specializes in bespoke sport cruiser motorcycle production. “We have a lot of hope, and we have a lot of ambition and desire to create and present something that we love,” Reeves said of the company.

The Canadian-born movie star is also a car enthusiast. He’s been spotted behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 Carrera, Ferrari California T, Bentley Continental GT, Bugatti Veyron, and Ferrari La Ferrari.

In the Reddit interview, Reeves spoke more about his love for fast cars and motorcycles. “When I was a kid, I always said I wanted to be a race car driver, a conductor, or an astrophysicist,” he said.

That explains Reeves’ love of the Porsche 911. He became interested in the iconic German sports car after one too many motorcycle crashes. The actor realized not only his limitations but also those of the two-wheeled machine.

“I enjoy the fact that the car allows me to be fast and efficient,” he said of the 911. “I have developed a bond with it.”
