Kia Creator Contest: Kia Will Pay You to Make Music
Are you a musically talented individual with love for Kia vehicles? The automaker has issued a challenge to anyone interested, and it involves making music. The Kia Creator Contest, in partnership with SoundCloud, has a $5,000 cash prize and promotion from both brands. Do you think you have what it takes to be the next Kia music global sensation? Help Kia promote the all-electric EV6 by making music.
What is the Kia Creator Contest?
In the Kia Creator Contest, competitors have a shot at winning $5,000 cash and the chance to be globally promoted by Kia and SoundCloud. However, there’s a catch involving Kia putting an automotive spin on the contest. In short, it has to do with the Kia EV6 and its corporate sibling, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the brand’s new EVs. Unfortunately, it isn’t a contest to see who sings the best or writes the best music with their favorite instrument.
Instead, Kia is offering musicians an instrument of its own design. For the Kia Creator Contest, you’ll have to learn how to play the ‘Kia Instrument,’ an online tool that musicians can use to create music. You didn’t expect a cool name for the instrument, did you? According to CarBuzz, it’s the instrument Kia used to make the welcome and goodbye sounds you hear inside the EV6.
You can download the instrument at kia.soundcloud.com/synthesizer.
How to enter the Kia Creator Contest
Those interested must submit their entry into the contest by May 10, 2022, at 11:59 PM EST. In addition, you need to be 18 years or older to participate in the competition. Moreover, the only requirement is to use the Kia instrument to create your song. While you can’t pull out a guitar and play Eddie Van Halen’s ‘Eruption’ solo to impress Kia, you have a lot of creative freedom.
However, it might be challenging to create a catchy tune using this interesting instrument. CarBuzz said the sampler on the left adds effects, and the top-middle controls can change the notes. You can loosely create the same notes as the Kia EV6 hello and goodbye sounds. We’re sure those with the music and creative talent will be able to make something excellent, even with just the Kia instrument.
The Kia EV6 making interesting sounds has become a theme
Back in March, The Korean Car Blog reported that Kia was investigating a mysterious high-frequency noise coming from the EV6 at low speeds. It would bother passengers, but the automaker had not nailed down the cause. In short, while traveling around 19 mph and slowing to about six mph, the electric vehicle would emit a beeping sound. Some drivers reported playing constant loud music to drown out the car’s sounds.
Kia only received reports of the annoying sound in South Korea. Owners in the U.S. and other countries worldwide didn’t experience the same problem. It might be a little strange, but it could also be why Kia was inspired to launch its creator contest.
Kia will pay you to make music
If you’re musically inclined, take a shot at creating something using the Kia instrument. For the Kia Creator Contest, musicians can win a $5,000 cash prize and a bunch of promotions from massive brands like Kia and SoundCloud. Learning the instrument could be fun for some people, although it does seem a little confusing at first. What’s there to lose? Who would say no to winning a couple of thousand dollars and a free promo?
