The Kia EV6 GT Will Be a Fast Electric Car
Currently, the 2022 Kia EV6 offers up to 321 horsepower, but that is set to change with the addition of the Kia EV6 GT. This performance electric crossover will offer serious power and performance, which some drivers are likely to appreciate. While some details are still a close secret, it is expected that the EV6 GT will have all-wheel drive and boast up to 576 hp. Which is a seriously impressive number for this EV crossover. So far, what we know seems fairly exciting. Of course, until a test drive is had, the EV6 GT is just numbers on a page.
How fast will the Kia EV6 GT be?
Kia reports that the Kia EV6 GT will reach 62 mph in just 3.5 seconds and will have a top speed of 162 mph. This high-powered EV is likely to impress everyone from auto enthusiasts to those who are interested in the EV market. This power will not come cheap though, as the 2022 Kia EV6 is already an expensive model. Even with available Federal Tax Rebates in place.
An additional feature that will come with the EV6 GT is a special software upgrade that will give the feeling of a limited-slip differential. Which is a true mark of a performance vehicle. We will have to see how this actually feels on the ground though.
Also notable is that the GT model will come with AWD. Which will help it to maintain traction and perform well in winter weather. Visual tweaks will also be made, in order to set the Kia EV6 GT apart from lesser electric models.
When will the EV6 GT be available?
It’s unsure when the EV6 GT will arrive at dealerships. Current 2022 Kia EV6 models have been difficult to find. And they often face dealership markups, which increase their overall cost. But when the EV6 GT does go on sale, we expect it to be fairly practical. According to InsideEVs, Kia does plan to get the GT treatment to other EV models as they arrive in the lineup.
Currently, buyers can opt for the 2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line. But, the GT-Line does not offer the performance improvements that the full GT model does. The GT model will add yellow brake calipers to match the yellow accents that will be featured throughout. And the seats are aggressively bolstered. That way, you can stay comfortably seated as you explore the performance offered by a 576-hp EV crossover.

As models like the Mustang Mach-E and other EVs come to the market, it is clear there is a market for high-performance electric models. There is something about the instant delivery of power that a traditional combustion engine just can’t deliver. Plus, in the case of the EV6 GT, the ability to get 576 hp without having to visit a gas station is likely to be appreciated. Especially with the current gas prices.
