Kia Plans to Give the 2022 EV6 576 Horsepower
The 2022 Kia EV6 has quickly become a popular EV crossover from the brand. And while it can already offer up to 320 horsepower and 446 pound-foot of torque, Kia has decided to give this vehicle even more power. And that will be in form of the Kia EV6 GT. This option has not gone on sale yet, but it has still caused quite a bit of excitement in the automotive world. Not only will the GT model feature more power, but some visual upgrades as well. Which is sure to make it a hit with those who want power and the efficiency of an EV.
What is the Kia EV6 GT?
The Kia EV6 GT will be the performance version of Kia’s first all-electric crossover. It will come with larger wheels and tires over the standard model and will feature more aggressive front and rear ends.
Other features that will set the GT model apart are its yellow brake calipers. Which are a true sign of a performance vehicle. The yellow continues into the interior of the EV6 GT with various accents. Sportier seats with added bolstering are also expected. That way, drivers and passengers can stay comfortable while enjoying the 576 hp.
What do we know about the Kia EV6 GT?
The Kia EV6 GT is not yet available. We do know the model will have over 550 hp, according to Car and Driver, and will have an aggressive look. The EV6 is not devoid of GT treatment despite this. The 2022 EV6 is available with a GT-Line trim. Which is a sort of downscaled version.
When equipped with all-wheel drive, the EV6 GT-Line offers 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque. Which are impressive numbers on their own. Because of its power, this EV crossover has a 0-60 mph time of just 4.6 seconds. Meaning that it has a faster 0-60 mph time than the Porsche Cayenne Coupe. Although, don’t expect to have the same driving experience as a Porsche.
When is the Kia EV6 GT release date?
Unfortunately, there is not yet a set release date for the high-performance Kia EV6. It is expected to arrive in late 2022, while other EV6 models have already started entering production in early 2022.
The EV6 GT will be competing with the Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition and Tesla Model Y Performance. Much like these models, Kia has estimated its performance SUV will have a 0-60 mph time of around 3.5 seconds.
How much will the Kia EV6 GT cost?
The top trim 2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line AWD has a starting cost of $55,900. As an EV, it is eligible for a Federal Tax Credit. It is likely safe to assume that the full GT model will cost more than this due to its performance and other upgrades.
For some buyers, this premium price may be worth it. Especially when considering the instant power delivery that an EV has to offer. Plus, the Federal Tax Credit will help to offset some of the initial cost.
