Kia seems to be hitting home runs this year with all of its cars. From the Kia Telluride to the Kia Stinger, it seems like the blossoming brand has figured out the recipe to a car that balances everything consumers are looking for. Even more importantly, they are affordable, and with the addition of a hatchback option, the 2020 Kia Rio just got even better.

A sporty daily

There is an added cool factor to having a hatchback, especially if your vehicle is classified as a hot hatch. Even if it doesn’t offer a ton of power, there is just something about the hatchback style that makes a car look even sportier. Perhaps it is the flat roofline and sharp front end that makes the Kia Rio hatchback so different, but whatever your reason for loving it is, there is more to this 5-door car than just appearances.

Hatchbacks mean extra space

The straight-back roof doors more than just change the car’s appearance. For one, it means that the back seats have just as much head room as the front seats. This isn’t always the case with cars that have sloping rooflines, making their back seats almost completely useless, or if not, at least uncomfortable. It also helps to maximize the tiny vehicle’s cargo capacity.

This can be ideal for drivers who live in major cities. As a smaller vehicle, the Kia Rio hatchback still offers a lot of space and cargo capacity, without demanding the gas typically required by larger, heavier SUVs. It is also easier to navigate heavy traffic and find tight parking spots.

Everything you’re looking for

For such a low price, starting around $17,000, the Kia Rio offers exactly what you would expect from it. It’s relatively comfortable and offers a decent amount of space if you want something practical but you don’t want to drive an SUV. On the dashboard, you will find a user-friendly 7-inch touch screen infotainment system equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Overall there is a lot to like about the Kia Rio hatchback, but there isn’t a lot to love. For the price, you can’t really get much better, at least when it comes to buying a car brand new. In fact, the space and comfort that this convenient hatchback has to offer should make it much more popular than it is, but that could be part of the charm. It’s an inexpensive, reliable vehicle, but you won’t see a bunch of other ones in the same parking lot.
