The Kia Seltos got a pass on upgrades for 2023. But for 2024, the Seltos will get a major refresh. The Korean Kia website site shows the new Seltos and it simply says “Coming soon.” Kia has previewed world versions of its cars in Korea, its home market, first. In the images, we can clearly see a new front end with an LED light bar and a much more purposeful front air dam on the SUV, flanked by vertical LED fog lamps, like those on the updated 2023 Kia Telluride.

Expect an improved interior, too, in the new 2024 Kia Seltos

The updates on the Seltos aren’t just on the outside. Today’s Kia Seltos has a touch screen that simply juts out of the middle of the dash, like an iPad in a holder. It also has a shift lever. Both of these will be gone if Kia keeps the same interior for U.S.-bound Seltos SUVs, which many including Car and Driver expect.

The new interior previewed on Kia’s Korean website has an integrated screen that is connected to the digital gauge cluster and goes about two-thirds of the way through the dash. It also has a dial, more like the luxury Genesis crystal ball, in the console. It should also keep its useful interior space.

How much is a 2023 Kia Seltos?

Kia recently released pricing for the 2023 Seltos. The new Seltos is the same vehicle as the 2022, but with a few more standard features. For 2023, the Seltos adds Blindspot Collision Avoidance-Rear and Rear-Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance to the base S FWD and S AWD trim levels. It also gets some extra noise reduction, which is always appreciated. You can also order a 10.25-inch navigation screen with satellite radio and telematics. Forward collision avoidance assist with pedestrian detection. Lane-keeping assist, and some other driver aids are also standard.

The 2023 Seltos starts at $22,590 for the front-wheel drive LX model. The S starts at $22,890, while the EX and SX models are the top trims. The SX comes with a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel like a race car. There are two engine options, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 146 horsepower that has a CVT, or a 1.6-liter four-cylinder that makes 175 horsepower. The more-powerful engine only comes in the SX and Nightfall editions.

Could the new Seltos be even more reliable?

Kia has not announced engine options for the new SUV yet. While Kia does have a better-than-average reliability rating, both J.D. Power and Consumer Reports don’t sound optimistic about the Seltos’ reliability. The Seltos does have a five-year, 60,000-mile, warranty with 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage and complimentary maintenance. However, the 2024 refresh will be a chance for Kia to make some major changes to one of its most popular SUVs.
