Kia Telluride, Honda Passport, Toyota RAV4 Are Great Family SUVs
When looking for a new SUV, your personal needs have to come into play. How many are in your family? How much cargo space do you need? In addition, does your family travel far and need good fuel efficiency? Perhaps you are brand loyal to Toyota.
The Kia Telluride, Honda Passport, and Toyota RAV4 are all great choices for family SUVs, according to U.S. News.
Kia Telluride – Best 3-row SUV
U.S. News labeled the Kia Telluride the best SUV with three rows. It ranked in third place overall for midsize SUVs and has many standard features. The three rows are roomy, and the cargo space is suitable for a few bags.
The Telluride can seat seven or eight passengers and received a safety score of 9.5/10. With a safety rating of 9.3, most of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) safety ratings were “good” with one “super.” The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the overall crash rating five stars.
The fuel economy could be better, but it gets about 20 miles per gallon in the city and 25 on the highway.
With a starting MSRP of $32,190, it was a finalist for the Best 3-Row SUV for the Money award.
Honda Passport – Best 2-Row SUV
The Honda Passport ranked number six in midsize SUVs. With a strong V6 engine and good handling, it is a solid pick. It also has Apply CarPlay, Android Auto, and an eight-inch touchscreen standard.
With a safety rating of 9.3, most of the IIHS safety ratings were “good” or “acceptable.” The NHTSA gave the overall crash rating five stars. There are no open recalls. The Passport gets about 20 miles per gallon in the city and 25 on the highway.
The Passport came in sixth for midsize SUVs, 15th for crossover SUVs, and 11th for SUVs with two rows. In addition, the Honda won the best SUV for the money and the best 2-row SUV for families.
The Telluride came in third for best midsize SUVs, fifth for crossover SUVs, second for SUVs with three rows. It won the best 3-row SUV for families and was a finalist for the best 3-row SUV for the money.
The Passport only has seating for five, so you might have to skip this one if you have a bigger family. The starting MSRP is $32,790.
Toyota RAV4 – Best Compact SUV
The Toyota RAV4 was given the award for best compact SUV. The RAV4 didn’t change much from 2020, but it also had no reason to change. With a starting MSRP of $26,150 and 28 miles per gallon city/35 miles per gallon highway, the RAV4 comes first for a lot of reasons.
The safety rating was 9.4, with “good” ratings from the IIHS for crash results. The NHTSA had similar five and four-star ratings. Standard from Toyota, the RAV4 has features like lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring.
Other notable awards include seventh for compact SUVs, 15th for crossover SUVs, 11th for SUVs with two rows, and winner for the best compact SUV for families.
This SUV only has five seats, but it has a lot of room in the cabin and cargo area. It also has a Wi-Fi hot spot and Android Auto, great for family road trips.
