There’s something about the new car smell that’s refreshing. It signifies a clean slate and exciting adventures. But would you like to bathe in that scent? Well, Koenigsegg recently announced on Twitter a body wash that’ll make you smell like a new car. It’s an auto lover’s dream come true. But don’t get too excited.

What is Koenigsegg?

Ford, Chevy, and Dodge are often known as the Big Three because they’re the largest American automakers and get the most attention. But other automakers exist that aren’t nearly as well-known. Koenigsegg is one of them.

The Swedish manufacturer is known for making out-of-this-world hypercars that are also out of nearly all people’s budgets. They’re not the type of cars you’d see tooling down the freeway often.

Koenigsegg is responsible for the world’s fastest production vehicle, the Agera RS. This imposing hypercar could reach speeds of 278 mph. In a world where most drivers are fine with topping out at 160 mph, that number is mind-blowing.

Tragically, the Agera RS is no longer in production. The last one rolled off the line in 2018, and it appears Koenigsegg has no plans to bring it back. But a new hypercar will carry on the legacy.

A new Koenigsegg model is here, and it’s as impressive as its predecessors. It’s the 2021 Jesko, starting at a cool $3 million, Car and Driver reports.

It packs a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 engine generating an insane 1,280 hp and 1,106 lb-ft of torque. As you might expect for a hypercar, the cargo area is limited, but it’s probably not a deal-breaker for its customer base.

The heartbreaking fact about the Jesko is that Koenigsegg produced only 125, and they’ve already sold out. Even though most people couldn’t afford such an expensive car, it’s still nice to dream. But there’s still the Koenigsegg 3-in-1 body wash that’s affordable. Or is it?

We’ve been played

Koenigsegg is the source of more than one urban legend, and now it appears the manufacturer is at it again. Only this time, the joke’s on us.

DuPont Registry Daily recently reported that the Swedish automaker released a tweet earlier this month regarding a new body wash. It’s called the 3-in-1 because it’s for your body, your hair, and your car.

Though such a product would be amazing, especially for those who have a special bond with their automobile, it appears we’ve been played.

Several clues indicate this product isn’t real. The first is Koenigsegg’s little joke about hair. On the egg-shaped bottle, next to the word “hair,” it reads “if any” for the follically challenged.

The other hint is that Koenigsegg released the tweet on April 1. If it had been March 31 or April 2, it might’ve seemed genuine. As it stands, it appears Koenigsegg played an April Fools’ prank and left us heartbroken. It’s not as bad as learning the Tooth Fairy isn’t real, but it’s up there.
