Lamborghini Huracan Owner Faces Charges After Going 4x Faster than the Speed Limit
Most car lovers like to drive fast. I’m not sure exactly what it is aside from our lizard brains loving the hit we get from narrowly escaping some sort of danger. Whatever it is, we like. Many YouTubers have built their followings on recording themselves going super fast. So, not only do we like to go fast ourselves, but we also like watching other people go fast. However, one YouTuber is getting brought up on charges for one of his films in which he hits allegedly hits 213 mph in his Lamborghini Huracan. That’ll be a hell of a speeding ticket.
What is the top speed of a Lamborghini Huracan?
According to The Drive, the top speed for this model Huracan is only 202 mph. This fact might help the accused in court, but not much. The Indiana police were tipped off to the speeding Lambo hitting over 200 mph. Unfortunately, the incriminating evidence was posted to YouTube but was eventually taken down. Regardless of what the manufacturer posts as the car’s top speed, modifications can easily boost that number, making the argument less effective.
The camera adds 150 mph
Gabriel Sleiman, the accused Lamborghini owner, claims that his videos are “deceptively edited” to make it seem like his supercar is going faster than it really is. According to The Drive, Sleiman was charged with reckless driving by Marion County Prosecutor’s Office this week. Indiana State Police Crash Reconstructionists analyzed Sleiman’s video and determined that the car in the video was doing at least 198 mph as it passed another car on the highway.
The Drive references a local news channel that reported that the black Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 stopped on the shoulder before quickly accelerating through traffic. On the stretch of road where the video was shot, the posted Speed Limit is 55 mph, and at one point in the video, the Lambo’s speedometer reads 213 mph. Some simple math shows that Sleiman was clearing nearly four times the posted speed limit. In most states, over 15 mph can land you more than just a speeding ticket; that counts as reckless driving. Don’t post videos of yourself doing crimes in your Lamborghini
If posting the video wasn’t bad enough, The Drive notes that the (now removed) video’s title is further hurting Sleiman’s case. The title read “2015 Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 Naturally Aspirated (0-213MPH).” Although the video in question has been removed, there are others still posted of the black Lamborghini. As you might expect, his Instagram account is also littered with rip-roaring Lamborghini fun.
Allegedly, Sleiman has admitted to the authorities that the Lamborghini in the video is his, but that the video was edited to make it seem like he was going faster than he actually was. Even if this argument hadn’t already been seen to by the Indiana State Police Crash Reconstructionists, he has a long, documented history of going fast and talking about it.
In an interview from 2017, he says, “This is where my passion is, you know?” Sleiman is clearly into “Just making things go fast. I just like to floor it a lot,” as he puts it. Furthermore, court records show that he has gotten 15 previous speed violations.
The Lamborghini Huracan is easy to get a speeding ticket in
The 2015 Huracan, like Sleiman, has a monster 5.3-liter V10, making 602 hp. As if it needed anything else to be exciting, this model also comes in RWD or AWD and is mid-engined. The result is a very low slung wedge capable of hitting 60 mph in only 3.2 seconds, and as we learned earlier, it tops out at 203 mph. This is a car that exceeds speed limits with minimal effort. This is all the more reason never to film yourself driving one.
