Lamborghini Huracan Performante Only Lasted 20 Minutes After Leaving Dealership
Buying a Lamborghini Huracan Performante must be one of the most exciting days of your life if you are ever so lucky as to be able to drop such serious cabbages. If that is true, then what does that make the day you total your supercar? Now, imagine, if you will, both of those things being on the same day. One unlucky fella needs no imagination to know what that buying and totaling a supercar within an hour feels like.
As Billy Joel once said, Only a good Lamborghini Huracan Performante dies young
According to The Drive, A UK driver picked up their new Huracan Performante Spyder. In under half an hour, his sleek supercar would be a tangled mess that now goes by The supercar formally known as a Lamborghini Huracan Performante.
The West Yorkshire Police posted on Twitter that this Lamborghini was crashed on the M1 motorway. However, the most reasonable explanation would be that the new Lambo owner was so hopped-up on the new ride that the motorist was driving wild and lost control of the Italian purebred. However, that assumption would be incorrect – for the first time.
Of course, I’m being hyperbolic; although we are used to seeing inexperienced drivers lose control of their six-figure sports car due to foolishness, this driver was not at fault for the crash. The police say that the Lamborghini was stalled due to a legitimate mechanical issue. When the stalled Lamborghini came to a stop on the highway, another motorist rear-ended the Lamborghini, destroying the rear end and knocking off the rear right wheel. Total carnage.
Such a colossal bummer
Thankfully the driver of the van that struck the Lamborghini walked away with only a minor injury, according to The Drive. Reports still aren’t sure what caused the Huracan to stall in the middle of the highway, but if you ever wanted to see the rear end of a Huracan opened up, eat your heart out.
Lamborghinis are cool. They just are. But those in the know understand that this isn’t just a Lamborghini; this was a Huracan Performante Spyder. That middle more Performante means something special.
Sports cars are about the only thing that costs more the less of it there is. A Lamborghini Huracan is a rad car on its own. According to MotorTrend, the regular Huracan has a 5.2-liter V10 capable of a max 602 hp in the AWD configuration, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. But the car in question was not a regular Huracan; it was a Performante Spyder.
Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder specs
“Spyder” means convertible, which is cool, but that is not THE cool part. Performante is a designation given to the tougher, meaner, more powerful, lighter, and all-around better version of the Huracan. The 602 hp is ramped up to 640 hp due to upgraded exhaust camshafts and air intake. This also bumps the torques up by 30 to a total of 453.
The seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox has also been touched up to make for faster and more crisp gear changes. The performante has also lost 90 lbs from carbon fiber use and the subtraction of some non-go-faster bits. It also got a new exhaust system that shed 25lbs by itself. The Huracan Performante also grew a great big ol’ spoiler to add extra aero and look super cool.
If all that wasn’t enough, the Lamborghini Huracan Performante also has tuned suspension, removing any spec of squish or give that hindered the fighter-jet-looking Lamborghini in cornering in any way. It is low, tight, mean, and light, making this a much faster car. The normal Huracan does 0-60mph in around 3.1 seconds. The Performante can do 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds. More importantly, it’ll go around a track faster than snot. Since its release in 2017, it has smashed many track records to pieces. This is a fast and capable car. It is certainly not your “regular” Lamborghini.
