The Large and in Charge Mazda CX-90 Will Be Here Soon
Get ready for the Mazda CX-90 to finally hit the stage. This new SUV is literally a big deal because it’s the biggest Mazda SUV ever made. The Kia Telluride is about to face fresh competition from the three-row 2024 Mazda CX-90.
When will the 2024 Mazda CX-90 come out?
The 2024 Mazda CX-90 will debut on January 31, 2023. That means we are only about two weeks away from laying our eyes on Mazda’s most ambitious vehicle ever. The latest teaser shows a CX-90 model that’s ready to be assembled.
This means that the 2024 CX-90 could be closer to production than we think. However, we know it’s slated to arrive as a 2024 model, so it should be available by the end of the year. The Mazda CX-50 had no trouble quickly rolling out once it hit the stage.
We know the three-row Mazda CX-90 is longer and wider than any other model. It should provide a boxier shape with more cargo and passenger space than the Mazda CX-9. Plus, the CX-90 won’t stray far from the classic Mazda features driver’s love.
It’s expected to be athletic and affordable, with a high-qaulity interior. Plus, it’s electrifying. The latest teaser confirms that the Mazda CX-90 PHEV is on the way. But the plug-in hybrid option might now be the only powertrain.
How much power will the CX-90 have?
The official figures for the 2024 Mazda CX-90 haven’t been released, but we have a few clues to speculate about. The European Mazda CX-60 has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired with an electric motor to crank out 323 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.
It’s possible that the CX-90 could have more power to account for its larger size and extra weight. The electric motor could also be paired with the new turbocharged inline-six engine that Mazda keeps teasing us with.
This could provide a crucial leg up against rivals like the Kia Telluride. The Telluride has a standard 3.8-liter V6 engine with 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. It also doesn’t have a hybrid option.
The CX-90 PHEV is expected to provide an all-electric driving range, but we’re waiting to learn how much. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe has an electric range of 22 miles on a single charge, but we want the CX-90 to go a bit further.
According to CarScoops, Mazda shared that the CX-90 maintains the responsiveness, performance, and driving dynamics that define Mazda vehicles.
The all-new e-Skyactiv powertrain is specifically tuned for the North American market to provide customers with the best of both worlds in terms of power and efficiency.
Will the CX-90 have a nice interior?
Rumors suggest that the 2024 Mazda CX-90 will carry on the tradition of providing a near-luxury interior at an affordable price. A few teasers have provided a glimpse of premium leather upholstery and soft-touch-covered materials.
It’s possible that the technology could be similar to what existing models have, with an infotainment display that emerges from the top of the dash. However, we hope the CX-90 gets a touchscreen instead of a rotary dial controller.
It’s safe to expect a massive panoramic sunroof, heated/ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, standard AWD, a power liftgate, USB ports in each row, and advanced safety features.
We are so close to seeing the CX-90 on the stage! Stay tuned for the latest updates. The clock is ticking.
