Largest Lego Formula 1 Car in the World Has Over 500,000 Bricks
What’s not to love about a lego F1 car? Ahead of the newly added 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, The Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) built the world’s largest Lego Formula 1 car. Saudi Arabia is preparing for the inaugural event with a fundraiser for the national charity.
Celebrating the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with a Lego Formula 1 car
Formula 1 has struggled with the schedule for the 2021 season due to coronavirus (COVID-19) issues, much like the rest of the world. After losing a few races due to safety issues, F1 added the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix to the schedule. In celebration of that, the people behind the GP worked with lego to create a masterpiece.
The Lego Formula 1 car was certified by Guinness World Records to be the world’s largest Lego Formula 1 car. HRH Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, the SAMF chairman, placed the final brick in the lego F1 car. Representatives of the Guinness World Records attended the event to confirm the achievement.
The Lego Formula 1 car was 18.7 feet long, 6.7 feet wide, and 3.5 feet tall. The SAMF and professional Lego builders used over 500,000 individual Legos to make the car. Lego assembled the F1 car in a local mall so people could watch the progress.
The Lego F1 car was a charitable act for the country
People were able to purchase bricks to help build the car and donate to charity. SAMF used 504,202 bricks in total and donated the money to Ehsan, Saudi Arabia’s national charity. By registering ahead of the event, supporters could purchase bricks and watch the build happen over the internet. The final day of the constitution was Sept. 23, the national day of Saudi Arabia.
“It is an indescribable feeling to be a part of not one but two world record breaking moments in the same year, with the Jeddah Corniche Circuit also set to become the longest & fastest street circuit on the planet when it makes its debut at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in December.”

The Lego Formula 1 car sports a green livery to match the Saudia Arabian flag. The Lego car also has some black and yellow Pirelli tires. The big back wing says Saudi Arabia on it, of course. The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is set to take place on Dec. 3 through the weekend and will be the first Grand Prix of its kind. Organizers say it will be the longest and fastest street circuit on the planet, as noted above.
The F1 cars are about to change
The sport gets closer to the fully redesigned 2022 F1 cars as the season continues. With the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, it makes sense that it would be longer and faster than other tracks, given the changes to the car. Tracks like this one in Saudi Arabia and the new track in Miami, Florida, will be well-equipped for the new design.
In conclusion, the end of the 2021 Formula 1 season should be entertaining. With the new cars rolling out next year, a new group of tracks popping up, and a battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen – there’s a lot to look forward to.
