There is literally big news about the new Honda CR-V. Not only is the 2023 Honda CR-V long and wider, but it features a third row. The extra seats place the CR-V in an excellent position to fight rivals such as the Ford Explorer and Toyota Highlander. 

The 2023 Honda CR-V features third-row seating 

Clues about the 2023 Honda CR-V have been emerging for a few months, and the new design looks great. The recently redesigned Honda HR-V displays clues about the remodeled CR-V, too, because the SUVs are expected to match. 

However, now we have new information that really gets our motors running. The new Honda CR-V has optional third-row seats. There could be a five-seater model with all-wheel driver and a seven-seater model with AWD. 

So, if the Honda Pilot isn’t really your jam, you can still get extra seats for your friends, family, and pets in the CR-V. We don’t know the official specs yet, but we can guess that the seats will be for kids only, like the third row in the Ford Explorer or Kia Telluride. 

The current CR-V model is 182.1-inches long and 73.0-inches wide. The new model is 185.5-inches long and 73.4-inches long, creating more cargo and passenger space. 

Also, the current generation offers up to 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear with up to 75.8 cubes total. It’s already one of the more spacious options. 

How much power does the 2023 CR-V have? 

With more space comes more power to move it, right? Well, this is a maybe for the 2023 Honda CR-V. The American model is expected to carry over its 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque. 

The 2.0-liter in-line four hybrid setup includes two electric motors and provides 212 hp and 129 lb-ft of torque. More powerful engine options could arrive a little later. According to MotorTrend, rumors about a plug-in hybrid powertrain are circulating. 

While we wish the CR-V was a bit sportier, at least it’s adequate. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.2 seconds. This speed isn’t thrilling, but it’s fine for passing others on the highway and merging into traffic. 

The CR-V can tow up to 1,500 lbs. This is a little disappointing because rivals like the Toyota RAV4 can tow up to 3,500 lbs, so we hope to see the CR-V gain more muscle. Plus, is a Honda CR-V TrailSport model in the works? 

How much does the new Honda CR-V cost? 

Official pricing for the 2023 Honda CR-V hasn’t been released, but we will update you once we receive the official numbers. The 2022 Honda CR-V starts at about $26,400. The new model could cost few thousand more to cover the upgrades. 

We haven’t seen any images of the interior, but it’s safe to expect a total overhaul with high-quality materials and modern aesthetics. By offering more comfort and value, it could gain more traction against the Toyota RAV4. 

The CR-V will probably gain a larger infotainment screen, more standard safety features, an enhanced digital gauge cluster, and a bigger panoramic moonroof. Rumors suggest that a panoramic camera and parking sensors are in the works.
