Leaked: 2024 Toyota Tacoma Prices Could Be Surprisingly Low
We’ve been waiting for months to learn about the new Toyota Tacoma. It seems like it disappeared after its debut without any pricing information. Its availability timeline is also still a mystery. But we could have an interesting update to obsess over because the 2024 Toyota Tacoma price may have been leaked.
How much will the 2024 Toyota Tacoma cost?
Official pricing for the 2024 Toyota Tacoma hasn’t been released. But we may have stumbled across one exciting clue. Reportedly, photos from the Detroit Auto Show show a sign by the Tacoma that says the price starts at $28,600.
The photos were uploaded to Tacoma4G, an online forum, so admittedly, this isn’t the best source. However, the images look legitimate with multiple different angles to consider, and there is a QR code by the price.
One red flag involves the fact the $28,600 MSRP is the same as the 2023 model’s MSRP. Wouldn’t Toyota increase the price year over year like everyone else? Also, why is this still flying under the radar?
The Detroit Auto Show is huge, with journalists from all over the world. Why wouldn’t a bigger outlet pick this up sooner? Was everyone too busy with the new Ford F-150 and Jeep Gladiator to ignore this huge potential eater egg?
But the Tacoma is also doing something that other trucks are neglecting. It has affordable work truck models with two doors and less engine power. You can even have the back seat removed to save even more money.
Plus, by undercutting the 2024 Ford Ranger, which starts at $32,565, the 2023 Chevy Colorado, which begins at $29,200, and the 2023 Nissan Frontier, which starts at $29,190, the Tacoma would have a massive advantage.
What is the Tacoma TRD PreRunner?
The Toyota Tacoma PreRunner is an older trim that covers the basics to provide a good-looking truck without breaking the bank. Older models have two-wheel drive, two-doors, and off-roading enhancements despite being rear-wheel drive.
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD PreRunner is a bit different because it’s listed as a mid-level trim option. It’s only available as a two-door extended cab or XtraCab model with a six-foot bed.
You can go without the rear seat to access lockable storage bins and cubbies instead. Plus, the front seat folds flat to create a level storage space. It rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, has a suspension lift, and a locking rear differential.
But it has the older leaf spring suspension setup instead of the new coil springs. It’s not available with the manual transmission and has 278 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque.
The standard engine cranks out 228 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque. So, will there be a regular PreRunner model under the SR trim?
When can you order the 2024 Tacoma?
We’re surprised that the 2024 Toyota Tacoma isn’t available yet. Toyota Tacoma models are expected to reach dealerships in late 2023, and September feels pretty late. Doesn’t Toyota want to get in on Christmas sales?
Hopefully, the order banks will open soon. Rumors suggest that the gas-powered models will arrive first. Tacoma Hybrid trucks will arrive later. It’s possible that the first hybrid models won’t arrive until the spring.
Even if the pricing on the Toyota Tacoma sign is incorrect, don’t lose hope. Rumors suggest that the new Tacoma will start under $30,000 to maintain its position as a popular fleet truck. Stay tuned as we continue hunting for clues.
