The Least Reliable Full-Size Truck for 2024 Isn’t a Surprise
The complaints are in and the least reliable full-size truck for 2024 has been revealed. It’s not a surprising option because it has had plenty of issues to correct since the latest generation debuted. Is it the Ford F-150, Toyota Tundra, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, or Ram 1500?
The 2024 Toyota Tundra is the least reliable full-size truck
Are you surprised? If you guessed that the 2024 Toyota Tundra is the least reliable full-size truck, then you guessed correctly.
That’s bad news for Toyota and its reputation for building durable trucks, but it’s great news for rivals like the Ford F-150, Ram 1500, and Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
Each truck was ranked based on feedback from actual owners. Thousands of surveys were sent out, allowing people to report any trouble they faced from problems with the paint, electronics, interior quality, engine, transmission, and more.
According to J.D.Power, the 2024 Tundra has a reliability rating of 78 out of 100. The 2024 Ram 1500 earned an 88, the 2024 Silverado 1500 has a score of 80. The 2024 F-150 hasn’t been ranked yet, but it doesn’t have a recall for engine failure, like the Tundra.
Scores between 70 and 80 are average, while anything between 81 and 90 is above average. Rankings between 91 and 100 are best. It’s surprising for the Ram 1500 to have such a high score.
Also, it’s important to note that the Tundra has been making improvements since the new generation launched in 2022. The 2022 model earned a 70, so it has gained eight reliability points.
At first, the trim pieces easily fell apart and electrical issues caused frustration. These issues may have been corrected.
However, the biggest current issue is related to potential engine failure. There is a recall for thousands of models equipped with the gas-powered engine.
Machining debris may have been left in the engine during the production process, leading to a sudden loss of power and engine failure.
Owners are being notified via mail this month if their truck is at risk. However, Toyota doesn’t have a solution yet.
Based on that, I can assume that more people will complain about the Tundra and this could bring its score down again. It could be the least reliable full-size truck next year too.
