There’s no denying that buying a new pickup can make for an expensive purchase. The odds are then that you actually want to like the pickup truck that you end up with. Unfortunately, that means steering clear of the least satisfying new pickups. 

The 2021 Ram 3500 is one of the least satisfying pickups

If you’re in need of a heavy-duty pickup truck, the 2021 Ram 3500 might seem like a decent enough pick. After all, the Ram 3500 is available with a lineup of powerful engines. The most powerful engine option offered, a 6.7-liter high-output Cummins turbo diesel engine, even boasts a best-in-class max towing capacity of 37,100-pounds. There’s really no denying that’s an impressive number.

But when it comes to owner satisfaction ratings? Consumer Reports gave this year’s new Ram 3500 and two out of five predicted owner satisfaction rating, making it one of the least satisfying new pickups on the market today. According to Consumer Reports, owners of the Ram 3500 may not be happy with the overall value of the pickup. 

The good news is that the 2021 Ram 3500 did earn high marks in terms of styling. So, while you may not be happy with how much you paid for the 3500, chances are you’re going to enjoy what the pickup looks like both inside and out. 

Avoid the 2021 Nissan Titan if you actually want to like your truck

Unfortunately, the 2021 Ram 3500 isn’t the only pickup to have earned a disappointing predicted owner satisfaction rating from Consumer Reports. In fact, according to Consumer Reports, the 2021 Nissan Titan also earned a two out of five predicted owner satisfaction rating. According to Consumer Reports, while buyers will find that the truck is extremely comfortable, odds are they will be slightly disappointed by its driving experience, exterior and interior styling, and its overall value.

The good news is that the 2021 Nissan Titan earned a decent score in Consumer Reports’ road tests. According to Consumer Reports, this year’s Titan comes equipped with “one of the punchiest powertrains in the segment, easily catapulting the truck to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds.” Consumer Reports added that the Nissan Titan’s “potent powertrain makes towing a breeze.” So, while you may not find yourself totally enamored with the 2021 Nissan Titan, at least you can count on it to tow without any hesitation.

The 2021 Nissan Titan XD made the list of least satisfying pickups

Unfortunately for Nissan, the 2021 Nissan Titan XD also earned a dismal two out of five predicted owner satisfaction rating from Consumer Reports, making it one of the least satisfying pickups of the year. 

As Consumer Reports explained, “Although the Titan XD (Extra Duty) promises heavy-duty pickup capability without a stiff ride, we found that its capabilities are closer to those of a regular-duty truck. On top of that, it’s just as clumsy in the corners as HD trucks.”

This year’s new Nissan Titan XD isn’t expected to be all that reliable, either. In fact, according to Consumer Reports, this year’s new model was only able to manage a two out of five predicted reliability rating. 

There are more satisfying pickups out there

While these pickups may be among the least satisfying, there are plenty of more satisfying options available. Take, for instance, the 2021 Ford F-250 and the 2021 Toyota Tundra. According to Consumer Reports, both earned a four out of five predicted owner satisfaction rating. And if neither of those trucks are of interest to you? There are plenty of other satisfying pickups to choose from.
