Legendary Barn Find: 20 Vintage Ferraris Discovered After Barn Collapsed
Barn finds are a wild and weird way to find a car. Lost, abandoned, and hidden cars get there in many different ways, with equally diverse discovery stories. However, this lot of 20 vintage Ferraris is a pretty amazingly unique barn find. After a massive storm destroyed a barn in Indiana, the “Lost & Found Collection” was, well, found. Strap in, y’all. This is among the most significant barn finds of all time.
The craziest barn find ever found
There are many stories of someone finding paw-paw’s lost Duesenberg or a 300SL Gullwing someone lost in a poker game buried in the backyard. America is a wild place full of wild cars. However, this collection of lost vintage Ferraris is one of the most significant and amazing finds we have ever seen.
we agree with the folks over at Silodrome – this barn find isn’t your run-of-the-mill collection of cool old cars. Typically in this scenario, there would be 20 cars, and a handful would be rare and valuable while the rest are cool but common. That is not the case here. Despite some cars getting damaged in the barn collapse, these are 20 Ferraris from the Golden Age of the marque. This collection covers some of the coolest and most sought-after models from the 1950s-1970s, with one exception from 1991. Can you guess which Ferrari from the early ’90s might make the cut?

Barn find gold
It’s hard to say whether you’d do better with the Ferraris in this barn or a chest of gold doubloons recovered from a Spanish treasure galleon. These aren’t just cool old cars people like. These are golden-era Ferraris. As the old saying goes: “They ain’t makin’ no more of ’em.”
A few of the rarest Ferrari models around
While maybe not the most attractive of the lot, the 1954 Ferrari 500 Mondial Spider Series I, according to research by Ferrari expert Marcel Massini and the car’s original build sheet, was originally Rosso Corsa paint over a Similpelle Beige vinyl interior. More amazingly, factory racer Franco Cortese raced the car and completed numerous races in its time.
Other note-worthy cars from the collection include the ’66 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Series II. This model stands out as one of only 36 right-hand-drive models ever made. Another major find is the 1991 Ferrari Testarossa. The latest car in the collection, it was added for good reason; it’s one of the most iconic Ferraris ever made.
For some collectors, the most important car in the lot is the spectacular 1978 Ferrari 512 BB Competizione. Only three of these were made in the factory to race in the 24 hours of LeMans. This car is exceedingly rare, and being dressed in race livery makes it a real peach.
Since we can’t cover them all, the last one we’ll examine is the teeth-chatteringly rare 1956 Ferrari 410 Superamerica Coupe Series I. It’s said that this is the 10th of 12 cars bodied by Pinin Farina. Originally the coachwork boasted finished Blu Artico paint over an interior of Naturale vaumol leather from Connolly. The model is ultra rare, and its original build was one of particular provenance. Adding to that, the Paris Salon priminently displayed this car on the manufacturer’s stand.
A vintage car collection like no other
This collection takes our breath away. Every next car feels more exciting and unbelievable than the last. Despite some of the damage suffered in the barn collapse, many of these vintage Ferraris are still worth well into the millions. A collection like this is so unlikely and hard to believe that you may need to read the list a few times.
