The 2018 LS experienced major upgrades in the way of luxury, style, and handling.

According to Jalopnik, the base LS had an entry price of more than $75,000, without any available options. But Lexus made a variety of packages and options available for owners, including the one that could buy you a whole other car. The Executive Package is currently offered on new LS vehicles, with or without Kiriko Glass, but the price hasn’t changed much. 

What’s Kiriko Glass and what makes it so expensive?

Kiriko Glass refers to a method of cutting different colors into clear glass, by hand. After meticulously etching the glass over and over again, the end result is a delicate, luxurious pattern that makes a car’s interior one-of-a-kind.

According to Lexus, the Executive Package with Kiriko Glass can cost up to $23,100 additionally, depending on the LS’s drivetrain. Here’s what that package adds to the LS:

• Kiriko Glass, hand-pleated trim on interior doors
• Multifunction massage with heat/memory seating
• Four-zone climate concierge
• 22-way power rear seats (with butterfly headrests)
• Power side-window sunshades, power-reclining rear seats
• Rear-center console with a seven-inch touchscreen

The basic Executive Package offers many of the same features, but without the style, fine accents, and touches of Kiriko Glass. Without the Kiriko Glass stylings, the Executive Package will still set you back up to $17,100.

What’s the Lexus LS like without the insane trim package?

The current 2019 Lexus LS 500 starts at $75,450, according to Edmunds. But Lexus trim packages can push the price to over $100,000. Regardless, the car boasts a quiet and comfortable ride, over-cushioned seating, and a powerful, twin-turbo six-cylinder engine. The 2019 Lexus LS 500 comes in all-wheel- or rear-wheel-drive and has 354-416 hp. 

The newest 2020 Lexus LS 500 offers a finer-tuned, 10-speed automatic transmission, as well as advanced adaptive variable suspension. The LS is loaded with striking accents and LED lighting. Built-in touchscreen displays and infotainment systems come standard in all LS models, with connectivity capabilities and driver controls.

According to Lexus, trim packages and options for the 2020 LS include the ultra-expensive Executive Package, an interior upgrade package, and packages for performance, cold weather, and more. You can also add the Safety System+, a suite of advanced safety features.

How Lexus’s trim packages stack up against the competition

Automaker Genesis may offer more standard features on its luxury sedans but offers little in the way of available options and packages. Lexus strives to make every model personal for its drivers. It offers less interior space than most Audis and BMWs, but it’s unrivaled in interior features.
