The Lime Rush 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro Stands Out Among the Rest
Every year, Toyota likes to spice up its TRD Pro models with a hot new color. For 2021, the Japanese automaker slathered its TRD Pro models in the futuristic – and primer-looking — Lunar Rock color. But for 2022, the 4Runner and Tacoma TRD Pro models are now available in a shocking Lime Rush color. It sure is polarizing and, during my time with the 2022 Toyota 4Runner thus far, I’ve received a lot of attention from many onlookers. So one thing is for sure, this Lime Rush color stands out among the rest.
The Lime Rush color makes the 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro easy to find
As if the 2022 4Runner TRD Pro’s lifted ride height and black 17-inch wheels weren’t enough to make it stand out from anything else on the road, this new Lime Rush color makes it so much more unique. There’s just something about driving around in a large SUV with an eccentric paint job that makes you feel like royalty or at least a funky court jester. During my time spent with the Lime Rush 4Runner, I couldn’t believe how many people turned their heads as they drove by me.
Of course, I didn’t get as much attention as I did in the 2021 Supra, but here in Colorado, this crazy bright new color separates this 4Runner from the countless others that you’ll see on the road. Most of them are blue, black, or silver, so I don’t blame anyone’s starry-eyed stares as I drive by. Also, this color is really easy to spot when the 4Runner is parked in any parking lot.
What else is new on the 2022 4Runner?
Considering the current 4Runner’s body style is seven years old, it should be no surprise that it’s in dire need of a makeover. But in true Toyota fashion, the Japanese automaker instead released another trim level for the 2022 model year: the 4Runner TRD Sport. Additionally, every model comes with full LED headlights and the TRD models now come standard with blind-spot monitors and a rear cross-traffic alert.
I found out that the rear cross-traffic alert comes in handy in tight parking lot situations, especially when drivers cannot clearly see the giant lime-colored monster pulling out of a parking space. The TRD Pro model also comes equipped with a Multi-Terrain Monitor, which uses strategically placed cameras that allow the driver to see the front and sides of the car. It’s mainly for off-road trails when visibility is limited and you need to see where you’re going so you don’t drive off a cliff. In regular driving situations, that feature works well for parallel parking or situating the SUV in other tight spaces.
It even comes with a hidden remote start feature
One semi-secret feature that I found out about my 4Runner TRD Pro tester is that it has a remote start. Unlike other automakers, Toyota doesn’t put a separate button for the remote start feature on the key fob, so most owners won’t even know that the feature is available. In order to activate the remote start feature, you’ll need to press the “lock” button three times, and on the third time, hold it down.
After a few seconds, the vehicle will flash its lights and start-up, which is handy when it’s snowing outside. Otherwise, the main highlight of this new 2022 4Runner TRD Pro is the Lime Rush color, which makes it stand out from the rest of the crowd, no matter which crowd you’re in.
