If properly maintained and not pushed beyond its working limits, the Ram 1500 can make it to 300,000 miles before needing a major transmission or engine repair. If you drive an average of 15,000 miles per year, it should last about 17 years on the road. Some owners have reached 300,000 miles with 20 years on the road though.

It costs about $670 to maintain a Ram 1500 on an annual basis. This is less than the GMC Sierra and Ford F-150, at least. The Ram 1500 is a little prone to rusting a bit early. Inspect the undercarriage before making your purchase. Wash it regularly and use anti-rust solutions to protect it.

If you use this truck as a work truck and average 20,000 miles per year, it may last on the road for about 12.5 years. Driving it for only 15,000 miles per year could stretch its life span to about 15 to 20 years on the road.

On an annual basis, it costs about $744 to maintain the GMC Sierra 1500. This price is a little above average. Rust can appear a bit early on the GMC Sierra, so keep it clean and treated to protect the metal frame.

If you drive an average of about 15,000 miles per year, then the F-150 may serve as a reliable truck for 20 years on the road. Work trucks are typically driven for about 20,000 miles a year, so this could limit its lifespan to about 17 years.

It costs about $745 to maintain the Ford F-150 each year. Pricing may vary based on age and condition. Some 2021 Ford F-150 models are arriving with rust, but apparently, it’s just cosmetic. The F-150 shouldn’t be more prone to rusting than rivals.

On an annual basis, it costs about $646 to maintain the Silverado. This is a reasonable cost for a full-size truck. Regular maintenance includes changing the oil and filter, lubricating the steering and suspension, rotating the tires, and regularly changing the belts. Watch for rust after about three to five years. 

The Toyota Tundra is a reliable beast

The Tacoma requires regular maintenance such as replacing the brakes, changing the oil filter, replacing belts, etc. While the Tacoma does have a bad reputation for rusting, the problem mainly occurs in 2005 – 2010 models. The frames have been updated to better prevent corrosion. 

The Honda Ridgeline won’t let you down

Plus, proud owners shared that the Ridgeline will make it to 300,000 miles with proper care and maintenance. So, with minimal repairs, they can stay on the road for about 20 years. This is if your truck is driven 20,000 miles or more per year.

It may cost up to $502 per year to maintain a Honda Ridgeline. This is if your truck doesn’t require significant repairs. Regular maintenance includes replacing items like the timing belt around 100,000 to 150,000 miles. 

The Honda Ridgeline does get affected by rust like other options, but research suggests it doesn’t rust as early as rivals. You shouldn’t see significant rust until after 100,000 miles. But living in the Rust Belt will increase the risk. But you can protect your truck with an anti-rust solution.
