Those of us who work in our trucks should give Ford’s interior designers a high five. Ford has redesigned its Super Duty trucks, the F-250 and F-350 for 2023 and the new interior is designed to be an office station on wheels. The new trucks have a power outlet as well as a flopping-and-folding console that turns into a flat workspace for a driver or passenger. It’s one of the key features of the new Ford Super Duty trucks.

Take a look at the trick gear shifter level in the new Super Duty, and you may wonder why it has a function to fold flat. When the shifter folds, the console can flop over the shifter and it creates a flat workspace. If you order the front bench seat, the console folds from the center and swivels around. Check it out a 2:19 in the above video.

The new truck is the first with 5G capability, and with a built-in hotspot, it can provide quick internet service to up to five devices. But that means you need power, right? Well, Ford added a household outlet to the dash, along with several charge ports, so your laptop and devices can get the juice they need. It’s one way Ford’s new trucks can compete with new heavy-duty trucks from Ram and Chevy.

Ford includes Pro Power Onboard on its F-150 trucks, and not the larger F-250 gets a dose of juice, too.  Pro Power Onboard uses the battery on the F-150 hybrid or Lightning to create household electric power. In the Super Duty, though, Ford hasn’t said what kind of battery the trucks use, but the Super Duty has 2 kW of power, which is enough for power saws, sprayers, or even better, a stereo or TV at a tailgate party.

New engines will keep the office rolling

Ford promised in Tuesday’s reveal that the new engines for the new 2023 F-250 Super Duty trucks will provide more power, though power ratings haven’t been announced. The big news is that there will be an uprated version of the already mighty Power Stroke diesel V8 with even more power. If 1,050 lb.-ft of torque isn’t enough for you, Ford executives promise the engine’s new turbo and exhaust manifolds will bring even more power. That diesel will join the 6.8-liter and 7.3-liter gas-powered V8 engines that will also get power boosts. There’s also a new Super Duty Tremor off-road version on the way.

Ford created the Super Duty line in 1999 and they have gone through four generations. The current generation launched in 2017 and was the first all-new version of the truck since 1999. Like the F-150, the Super Duty got an aluminum frame that saved hundreds of pounds of weight, which not only helped the trucks get better fuel economy but allowed them to tow and haul more. For 2022, you can order it with a 6.2-liter V8 that has 385 horsepower, a 7.3-liter with 475 horsepower, or the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel that makes an astounding 1,050 lb.-ft of torque and 475 horsepower.
