The Ludicrous $92,000 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Electric Truck
Sure, prices for everything are up. Pickup trucks are not immune to fluctuating price changes. With that said, does anyone need a $92,000 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning electric truck? Look no further than the F-150 Lightning Platinum if you do.
There are other 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning trim levels for less
Perhaps the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning isn’t even a victim of rising new car costs. Ford priced the F-150 Lightning Pro, the lowest priced option, at a reasonable $39,974. Ford wants this one to be a work truck, with a “ready to work” label. It has the Standard Range battery that targets an EPA-estimated 230-miles of range.
Next up is the Lightning XLT trim. The XLT has a different grille, extended running boards, a 360-degree camera, and a work surface inside the cabin. The XLT has an extended range battery, which should get 320 miles. The standard range battery gets 230 miles and starts at $52,974. Those looking at the Lariat trim are getting 230 miles of range on the standard range battery and 320 miles on the extended range battery. This one starts at $67,474.
All of these ranges are acceptable enough. The extended range battery on the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning will run you an extra $10,000.
The $92,669 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum electric truck
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum is the top-of-the-line electric truck right now. It comes with dual electric motors and an extended-range battery. That gets it 300 miles of range for the Platinum trim. It comes with the Tow Technology package, which has a 360-degree camera and a forward sensing system.
Ford also added a pro trailer backup assist to the Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum. Then, the Max Trailer Tow Package is also included. Additional cooling hardware is added to the electric motors to allow for increased towing capacity. That allows for 8,500 pounds of towing capacity, thanks to those packages.
Ford BlueCruise technology will allow for 130,000 miles of hands-free driving on various highways in the country. Adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assistance, and Ford Co-Pilot360 adds even more driver assistance features. It isn’t like buyers are walking away with nothing, but it still seems like a lot. After all is said and done, the Platinum sits at $92,669.
If this high-end F-150 electric truck sounds good to you, get to it
The Pro and XLT models are already sold out as it stands right now. As one of America’s favorite trucks, there are probably a few people out there willing to shell out almost $100,000 on an electric F-150. The 2022 F-150 Lightning Platinum checks all of the boxes and offers buyers a lot of luxury.
Similar options include the GMC Hummer EV Pickup, the all-electric Chevy Silverado, and eventually, the Ram 1500 electric truck. The Rivian R1T electric truck has started delivering, and a few Hummer Pickups have too, but the other ones buyers will have to wait for. Ford plans to begin delivering orders at the end of this month, beating the Silverado at least.
If there weren’t a market for this type of electric truck, Ford probably would not have offered it. Those with $92,669 to burn, please start your electric motors.
