Many people are excited about movie memorabilia, and that sometimes includes vehicles used in films. Movie cars that have gone up for auction range from Herbie the Love Bug to the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spider used in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Now the fascinating cars from Mad Max: Fury Road are coming to auction. Here’s how you can add one of these famous vehicles to your collection.

‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ cars are fantastical armored vehicles

Mad Max: Fury Road came out in 2015. The post-apocalyptic action movie won six Academy Awards in 2016, the most of any film that year, The Verge reports.

In the film, a tyrant, Immortan Joe (played by Hugh Keays-Byrne), has enslaved survivors of the collapse of civilization in a desert fortress called the Citadel. The warrior Imperator Furiosa (played by Charlize Theron) escapes with the tyrant’s five wives. Along with Max Rockatansky (played by Tom Hardy), the group flees the tyrant in a high-speed chase featuring fantastical armored vehicles and amazing stunts, Rotten Tomatoes explains.

According to Car and Driver, those vehicles are now headed to auction, with 13 of the film’s vehicles available for sale. The auction appears while a prequel film from director George Miller is in the works, which should help increase interest. That film, about Charlize Theron’s Mad Max: Fury Road character, is expected to release in summer 2023.

These ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ cars will go to auction

The vehicles going to auction include the War Rig tanker and 12 others. Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers in Australia calls the War Rig tanker truck the “mutant lovechild of [a] semi-trailer and hot rod, twin V8s end-to-end, 6-wheel-drive, 18-wheeled leviathan charged with the barter of fluids and firearms that binds the three city-states of the Wasteland in tenuous alliance.” This large vehicle was also a primary set in the film.

The Razor Cola is a modified 1973 XB Ford Falcon coupe. It features off-road rails and supersized wheels plus a double-aspirated V8 blower with a skull on top.

Next is the Nux Car, driven by Nux in the film. It’s a super-turbocharged, nitrous-boosted 1932 Chevrolet Deuce Coupe. This hot road’s steering wheel sports a doll’s head.

Then there’s the Ford F-250 tow truck called the Sabre Tooth. It has a giant claw in its bed, plus a large harpoon that can lasso.

The Doof Wagon is a repurposed 8 x 8 M.A.N. missile carrier that keeps the beat for the War Boys of the Wasteland. With mounted drummers and stacks of speakers, the Doof Wagon and Coma the Doof Warrior share “the soundtrack to the end of civilization,” Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers says.

Finally, the Jag Flamer is one of the convoy cars. Featuring a sandblasted finish on its chassis, this vehicle was used as a kamikaze point guard.

Other vehicles include the Gigahorse, the Elvis convoy car, the Pole Car, the Fire Car, the Caltrop: Eldorado, the Ratrod Chevy buggy, and a heavy artillery Buick with a Hummer weapon mount.

The auction for the Mad Max: Fury Road vehicles will be held on September 25 and 26. They will be sold by tender, so people will bid secretly by phone or email without knowing the other bids. The seller will select the winning bids, but the auction house might not release the final sale prices.
