Waiting times for trucks are out of control. Ford fans are a little used to waiting as the pandemic delayed the Ford Bronco, F-150, Ranger, and other options. But COVID-19 has mostly passed, and the 2024 Ford Ranger delays are due to different issues. 

What’s causing 2024 Ford Ranger delays?

2024 Ford Ranger delays have been disappointing to fans who are ready to upgrade their rides. It was supposed to arrive last summer but finally started to arrive a few weeks ago. 

Ford admitted that the new Ranger had a cosmetic issue on the hood that slowed the entire production process down. However, Ford didn’t share details about the actual problem. 

It required changes to the manufacturing process to correct and Ford wanted to fix it before deliveries began. This is part of its commitment to quality checks to prevent recalls and keep customers happy. 

Also, it would be pretty embarrassing for the new Ranger to launch with hood problems. People don’t need another reason to harp on Ford quality. 

Another source of 2024 Ford Ranger delays is the twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 engine with 315 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. It’s the mid-level engine and Ford has been honest about its late availability since day one.

According to Ford Authority, the Michigan Assembly plant will be adding the 2.7-liter engine to the mix soon as part of Job 2 Production. The switchover date hasn’t been announced. This engine will eventually be available with the XLT and Lariat trims. It requires 4×4. 

The Ranger is manufactured at the same plant as the Ford Bronco. At the beginning of the year, Ford was focusing on fulfilling existing Bronco orders before ramping up Ranger production. 

But the tide is changing. Reportedly, storage lots have more Ranger models than Broncos. But why are these trucks being held? 

This may indicate that the Ranger models are waiting for a part to come in to be completed. During the semiconductor chip shortage, Ford built F-150 models and stored them until more chips came in. 

Because the Ranger is being delivered to dealerships in small numbers, markups are already getting out of control! But at least things are starting to move.
