General Motors cars and SUVs across all divisions are affected by this latest recall. It affects almost 200,000 vehicles. A fire can start from transmission fluid leaking onto an exhaust component. The leaks are caused by a stop-start component that was not properly bolted onto the transmission. Bolts can be either loose or not installed at all. While there’s a slim possibility of potential fires GM is erring on the side of precautions with this recall.

Here’s the models involved in the GM recall:

2019 Cruze Sedan Premier and 2019 Cruze Hatch RS position Cruze to continue its success in the compact car segment.

Chevrolet models are the 2018 Malibu, 2018-2019 Cruze, 2018-2020 Equinox, 2018-2020 Traverse, and 2019-2020 Blazer.

2020 Buick Encore GX

Buick models include the 2018-2019 LaCrosse, 2019-2020 Encore, and the 2019-2020 Enclave.

Cadillac has two models included which are the 2019-2020 XT4 and 2020 XT6.

GM says it is not aware of any problems or fires as a result of the leaking fluid. It will begin the recall in mid-December as it still needs to issue recall notices to owners. Dealer technicians will inspect the transmission accumulator and make necessary repairs to tighten all of the bolts and replace any that were not installed in the first place.

If you have questions or concerns about your vehicle that might be included in this recall you can contact the GM Recall Center for further information.
