Another day, another YouTuber finds a field full of Rusty American dreams. This field of abandoned classic cars is not like so many of the others, where there might be one or two semi-cool cars out of 50. This barn find treasure trove (field find) is chock full of rare and beautiful cars of all kinds. Enjoy this endless field of abandoned classics. 

Are there still barn find collections to be found? 

Barn finds might feel like finding a Spanish treasure Gallion at this point; either they’ve all been found, or they are unfindable. However, new and exciting classic car collections and hidden gems keep turning up. 

This YouTube video from Barn Find & Rescue graciously offers zero commentaries. It’s just an eight-minute onslaught of faded American classics. The silent walk through the magical field is overflowing with Plymouths, Fords, Cadillacs, and more.

The video opens with a shot of the main field in front of a barn with what looks to be a dozen or more unrestored classic American cars. You’ll notice the only sound in the video is gently lapping waves. Unlike so many of these videos where the YouTuber offers a running commentary, this video does the opposite. 

A few minutes into the video, the sound of lapping waves subsides, and the distinctive chirp of summer bugs, a dog barking, and the distant sound of traffic takes over. Somehow, these sounds are no less pleasant. 

What kind of cars are in this massive collection?

Of the many dozens of classic cars on this property, a few stand out as the most noteworthy. One of the most noticeable is the massive and commanding 1952 Pontiac Chieftain. According to HotCars, the Chieftain played a vital role in keeping customers interested in cars post-WWII because of its unique shape and size. The Chevy Nomad gets all the wagon attention from the ‘50s, but the Chieftain is the real wagon deserving of love. 

Easily one of the coolest cars here and in the world is this 1959 Chevrolet El Camino. We are all so used to seeing the late-’60s muscle car version of the ute, but the late-’50s Caminos were the classiest car/truck ever made. Granted, it’s not a massive pool, but a win is a win. 

Lastly, a black 1954 Cadillac Coupe Deville sits patiently, begging for some love. This huge car’s long and wide curves still amaze us without a single crinkle to be found. This is one of the more complete and seemingly ready-to-roll cars in this field of “barn finds.” 

There’s no telling how long it has been sitting, but despite its good looks, it surely needs a good going over before it could be road worthy. 

What to do if you come across a barn find?

Barn finds are exciting. The idea that you can discover an abandoned classic car and get it back on the road is intoxicating to many. However, it is important always to be mindful of whose property you’re on. 

Nosing around someone’s field or barn without permission is not only illegal, but it’s also dangerous. Enjoy the hunt.
