The new Mercedes-AMG ONE is a Formula One car for the road. You hear expressions like that all the time when it comes to supercars. Racecar for the road, Formula One car for the road, etc. However, there’s no hyperbole in that description when it comes to this car. After five years of development since its reveal as a concept car, this track-dominating monster is ready to hit public roadways.

The AMG ONE has a 1.6-liter V6 engine and over 1,000 horsepower

Carwow recently posted a video tour of this remarkable new Mercedes on its Youtube channel. Undoubtedly, this close look at this remarkable car really hammers home the fact that it is indeed as close to an F1 car as any road-legal vehicle has ever been.

Outside, the vehicle has stunning looks that are reminiscent of the legendary Mercedes CLK GTR. The Mercedes-AMG ONE is low, wide, and flat with an incredibly aggressive-looking front end. Additionally, the ONE features aero systems that engineers undoubtedly borrowed from actual race cars, like the massive flaps on the front fenders, the huge carbon air intake on the roof, and the giant active-aero wing on the back.

On the inside, the racecar inspiration continues to reveal itself. Most obviously, the Formula One-style steering yoke grabs your attention immediately. It has virtually all of the controls you could possibly need on the steering wheel. This includes driving mode selection, suspension adjustment, and even a button specifically for flashing lights at cars in front of you to tell them to get out of your way.

Undoubtedly, though, the Mercedes AMG ONE is most similar to an F1 car because of its powerplant. Where most supercars have huge displacement V8s, V10s, and V12s, the AMG ONE follows the low displacement formula (no pun intended) that Formula One does. It uses a 1.6-liter V6 engine with two rapid spooling electric-assisted turbochargers. Additionally, the V6 is joined by an electric drivetrain system for the front wheels. All said and done; the AMG ONE makes an eye-watering 1,063 horsepower. ‘

Finally, the AMG ONE uses an astonishing F1-style suspension system.

How fast can the AMG ONE go?

Extremely fast, to put it bluntly.

Mercedes says that the Mercedes-AMG ONE can sprint from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds. Even more impressive, though, is the fact that acceleration is maintained. The AMG ONE can reach 124 miles per hour from a standing start in under six seconds. Flat out, it will carry on to a top speed of 217 miles per hour. That isn’t just fast; it’s terrifying.

With current exchange rates, the price of a Mercedes AMG ONE starts at over $2.5 million. Don’t worry about that too much, though, as Mercedes will only produce 275 of these remarkable cars. Even if you have the money, you still needn’t worry about it because all the examples have already been sold.

There’s no official confirmation of who all got to buy one. However, it is confirmed that 2016 World Drivers’ Championship winner Nico Rosberg is one of the lucky 275 buyers. Of course, being behind the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG car for that title definitely worked in his favor. Additionally, many theorize that F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton will also add one to his collection.

So, if you ever see an AMG ONE in person, take a good look at it while you can. You likely won’t ever see one again.
