While the focus on electric vehicles seems to be taking over the news cycle these days, Mercedes would like a word. Mercedes-Benz is releasing a new G-Class for the European military. The company says the new G-Class will help emergency crews get the job done, but what kind of equipment does the G350d 464 offer?

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class goes by many names. The Mercedes is also known as the G-Wagon or the G350d. This new variety is called the Mercedes-Benz G350d 464, and it won’t be available to just anyone. The G350d 464 will only be available to European militaries.

The G-Wagon has been around since 1979 and has only recently become a favorite for celebrities to bounce around in. It was initially intended for Rescue and Special Operations more than the grocery store, but that’s neither here nor there. These military vehicles are meant to traverse the land in even the most difficult of conditions.

The G350d 464 has critical new equipment such as the Emergency Override Switch (EOS). In emergencies, this can allow the engine and other vehicle parts to work at maximum capacity. It can make the engine bypass specific other protection measures in place to get passengers out of harm’s way. This might result in damage to the engine but has the potential to save lives.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class Station-Wagon BA06 is an enclosed, five-door vehicle with room for four passengers. It has room in the trunk for gear and other equipment. It has a gross weight of 7,716 pounds, and 2,204 of that is available for the payload. The BA06 can also carry around 450 pounds on the roof.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class Chassis with Cab G 350d is also known as the two-door cab BA09 model. This version is designed for a two-person team. The cab is longer than the previous model so that passengers can stow more equipment. Mercedes says it has a “double triangular mounting bracket allowing the largely torsion-free and low-vibration attachment of load carriers.”

There is also the option for an intermediate frame for other uses. This vehicle has a gross weight of 10,802 pounds. It also has a payload capacity of 5,511 pounds. It has a huge gas tank that can get over 370 miles out of a full tank. Both vehicles can tow an additional 7,716 pounds with the addition of a trailer.

These G-Wagons are well equipped for rescue missions due to the high ground clearance, off-road capability, and gradeability. It has improved corrosion protection and works well with snow chains. While it can do the regular day-to-day operations, it is also ready for whatever military operations might be necessary.

Mercedes-Benz says that these G-Class units have already proved to be helpful in patrol duties, disaster relief, and other peacekeeping missions around the world. These new vehicles will only improve upon that.
