When the C8 Corvette was released for 2020, fans were ecstatic. The previous generation was already known for its exceptional performance, but this Corvette came back as a midengine sports car. GM Authority reports that now the Chevy Corvette Stingray is on its way to international acclaim.

European motorists can purchase the Chevy Corvette Stingray sometime next year, but some countries don’t have to wait as long. The 2020 Corvette just dropped in the Middle East, after its reveal at the Dubai International Motor Show last year. What can Middle Eastern Corvette fans expect from this generation’s thrilling entry?

All about the 2020 Chevy Corvette Stingray

The 2020 Corvette’s mid-engine design definitely makes it stand out from the rest of its competition. In this location, the motor is able to supply power and traction evenly to all four wheels of the car. This makes the Stingray incredibly engaging to drive, especially when it comes to tight corners.

The engine itself is a 6.2-liter V8 that produces 490 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. Drivers can also add on the Z51 Performance Package for $5,995. This ups its overall horsepower, gives the car the fastest 0-60 mph time, and comes with several nice racing enhancements.

It includes a racing spoiler, new suspension, and highly responsive Brembo brakes. Even without all the fancy add-ons, the Chevy Corvette is still incredibly quick, with a top speed of 194 mph. All Corvette Stingrays are also outfitted with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. 

The Corvette has six different drive modes, with unique settings for hazardous weather, track racing, and cruising around town. A limited-slip differential is standard, but it also offers an electronic version. Other performance upgrades include traction management and racing tires. 

The Chevy Corvette’s captain’s quarters are also very luxurious. The seats are made of leather upholstery, and there are plenty of imitation suede and real metal accents throughout the cabin. It comes in both coupe and convertible body styles, but even tall drivers won’t be lacking for head and legroom.

The cargo area is surprisingly functional for a two-door sports car, with almost 13 cubic feet of space. Drivers also have access to lots of standard tech, like smartphone integration, a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Most of its safety features cost extra, but it does come with a Teen Driver system and parking sensors.

The Corvette Stingray’s Middle Eastern debut

Overseas, buyers have much of the same options when purchasing a 2020 Chevy Corvette. They have access to all trim levels, plus the Corvette’s full catalog of both interior and exterior color options. There are also two varieties of interior stitching and six custom seat belt colors.

Buyers can also upgrade to the Z51 Performance Package. Corvettes with this package retail for $86,500 in the Middle East, a considerable price jump compared to the U.S. model. Even with the pricey convertible body style, an American Z51 Corvette still costs $10,000 less. However, you can still easily boost its price upwards of $90,000 due to all its options.

What’s in store for 2021?

The Chevy Corvette’s powertrain is unchanged for the next model year, but it does come with some fancy new paint options. A seatbelt reminder was added and standard smartphone integration is also wireless now. You can also buy Magnetic Ride Control, previously exclusive to the Z51 package, on its own.

At a base price of around $60,000, it’s an impressive value for a sports car. No word on when the 2021 model will grace Middle Eastern countries, but the 2020 Chevy Corvette is just as good.
