You Might Decide to Buy a Hyundai EV After You Hear What Hyundai Is Doing
The is no bigger hurdle for EVs to jump than infrastructure. We currently don’t have enough chargers nor enough electricity to make the jump, even if everyone in America was on board with EVs. This is a reality we have to face. Well, Hyundai is facing it and doing something about it. Hyundai is now offering cash support to install an at-home charger for anyone who buys a Hyundai EV.
How much does it cost to install an EV charger in your garage?
If you want an electric car charger at home, you have to buy one and have it installed. Neither of these two things is cheap. The ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger costs around $600 to buy outright and around $2,000 to actually install. Along with the $600 toward install costs, Hyundai is also giving EV customers the Chargepoint unit for free.
This is a clear play for Hyundai to steal some of Tesla’s market share. It is no secret that despite Tesla’s messy PR and public opinion situation, the EV firm still tightly holds the market share. Tesla consistently shifts pricing and adds buzz where it can. This tactic has worked pretty well for Tesla. Now, Hyundai is trying to go with a different approach to gaining ground on the EV battlefield.
Does Hyundai make any good EVs?
Yes, with models like the Ioniq 6 sedan and the Ioniq 5 SUV, Hyundai is starting to impress a wider audience. Along with the new charger incentive, Hyundai is also keeping the pedal down on designing, creating, and releasing new EV models consistently. Hell, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 won MotorTrend’s SUV of the Year last year. These great electric car models, along with the incentive, are building quite the case for buying a Hyundai EV.
The only catch is that popular models like the Santa Fe and Tucson PHEV models are not eligible for the deal. The promotion is active between September 21 and October 31, 2023, and you’ll have 90 days from the date of purchase or lease of an eligible vehicle to schedule the installation.
What Hyundai models are eligible for the credit and free charger?
The 2023-2024 Ioniq 5, 2023-2024 Ioniq 6, and 2023 Kona Electric are all cleared for the deal. The Ionic cars have been a hit. Consumers, as well as critics, have heaped loads of love on the laps of these futuristic-looking ‘80s cars from another dimension. They look striking, they perform well, and they aren’t through the roof.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a stand-out SUV. While every carmaker is clambering to get the next bogus “off-road” trim out before the next guy, Hyundai has made an elegant, efficient, unique, and stylish SUV. It should come as no surprise that everyone seems to dig the little spaceship.
MotorTrend said it nicely when they announced the Ioniq 5’s victory as SUV of the year, “Simply put, no SUV in our incredibly diverse 33-vehicle field more faithfully lives up to our six key SUV of the Year criteria than does the new Hyundai Ioniq 5.”
