MINI Cooper S Returns for 2025 With More Horsepower Than Ever
The MINI Hardtop returns for the 2025 model year with news. First, the Cooper S returns with extra horsepower over the outgoing model. However, the latest S model also demands a steeper starting price over the 2024 MINI Cooper S to compliment its bump in horsepower.
The 2025 MINI Cooper S will hit American roads with an extra 12 horsepower and a nearly $3,000 price bump over last year
The 2025 model year. It means a new generation of Dodge Chargers, another year of Ford Mustang, and, of course, the return of the MINI Cooper S. This time, the hot hatch adds 12 ponies to its stable for a total of 201 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. Consequently, it’s the first factory S with a power bump since the 2014 model boosted output from 181 horsepower to 189.
Model | Horsepower | Base price |
---|---|---|
2025 MINI Cooper S | 201 HP | $33,195 |
2024 MINI John Cooper Works | 228 HP | $36,395 |
2024 MINI Cooper S | 189 HP | $30,095 |
However, a modest power bump isn’t the only figure to swell year-over-year. The latest Cooper S Hardtop will demand around $33,195 before fees, per Car and Driver. That’s a $3,100 jump over the base price of the outgoing 2024 Cooper S. Still, we expect another John Cooper Works (JCW) two-door hot hatch to lead the lineup.
Mind you, you’d have to be a die-hard MINI fan or an Anglophile to love the latest iteration’s taillamps. They took the smooth, oblong lamps of the 2024 MINI Hardtop and Convertibles and pinched them into an inward-facing triangular shape. Of course, the MINI retains the now-familiar Union Jack in the lights, albeit in a new shape.
However, the rest of the MINI’s retro appeal perseveres into 2025, complete with the round headlights and two-door hardtop hatchback construction. Moreover, the new Cooper S is more muscular and pricier than any of the third-gen Cooper S models before it.
