The Cadillac XT6 still feels pretty new as it enters its second year of production, and it has a few new updates, including more standard features. This is in an attempt for the 2021 Cadillac XT6 to attract more customers by making this luxury SUV seem affordable. Getting more for the same price is usually a good deal, but let’s see if the Cadillac XT6 is worth buying or not.

Is the 2021 Cadillac XT6 a Good SUV?

The 2021 Cadillac XT6 begins around $49k, a moderate price for a three-row luxury SUV. There is also a destination fee, that’s about $900. The Acura MDX starts around $44k, as one of the cheapest luxury options, and the BMW X5 begins around $58k.

In 2021, the Cadillac will come with three trim options: luxury, sport, and premium luxury. Luxury is the base model trim. The Luxury Cadillac XT6 comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that offers 237 horsepower.

The 2020 Cadillac XT6 comes with a 3.6-liver V6 engine, so the decrease in power is interesting. Also, the 2020 Cadillac XT6 takes 6.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph, so that’s surprising. We expected a luxury SUV to have a little more pick up.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Features

The 2021 Cadillac XT6 Luxury trim comes with a variety of convenience features, including black faux leather seats, an aluminum interior trim, heated front seats, a power liftgate, a bright exterior trim, and large 18” silver wheels.

In our opinion, the power liftgate and 18” wheels are most exciting. It will make loading up the trunk easier, and the larger tires will improve cornering on twisting country roads. However, faux leather is a little disappointing.

Also, the 2021 base model Cadillac comes with smartphone mirroring for Android and Apple phones. That means you will be able to access your favorite apps on the multimedia display on the 8” touchscreen infotainment center.

However, we need to compare mirroring to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that put your favorite apps on the infotainment center. Phone mirroring sounds like a fancy way to say Apple CarPlay. Plus, if your phone is being mirrored, will your text messages pop up on the infotainment center?

Also, how much of the battery will be drained by mirroring the screen? Do you have to plug in your phone for it to work, or will it work via Bluetooth, and what about wireless charging? Forget mirroring, give us wireless charging.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Safety Features

The 2021 Cadillac XT6 got more safety features, including forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, lane departure warning, and front and rear parking sensors.

Cadillac also promotes their rearview camera that displays the video feed on the rearview mirror, too, in case it’s obstructed. We want to test that out to see if it makes a difference compared to the visual feed on the infotainment center. Also, what about rear-cross traffic alerts while backing up, drowsy driving warnings, and more? We aren’t exactly sold on the Cadillac XT6. It doesn’t seem to come with much for its price.
