This Might Be the Most Complained About Pickup Truck
In 2023, it’s hard to overstate just how popular pickup trucks are. These once-simple tools have gone from workhorses to daily drivers for a lot of folks. Plenty of manufacturers are building these vehicles, whether a full truck or something smaller like a midsize pickup. But some have more complaints than others, and one of those is the 2013 Ram 1500.
Does Ram make good trucks?
Over the years, the Ram 1500 has been considered a good truck. But there have certainly been some problematic models as well. Specifically, the 2013 model year has not aged well with owners. It doesn’t look like this pickup truck has earned praise from places like Consumer Reports either.
Common issues with the 2013 Ram 1500 include engine problems. Because of engine design, cylinder heads are prone to premature failure and cracking. That problem can be pretty expensive to fix, especially if you don’t catch it soon enough.
Other issues can stem from the fuel system and the 4WD system, which certainly is not something you want to deal with when it comes to a full-size truck. According to Vehicle History, the 2013 Ram 1500 does not have the same life expectancy as some other pickups.
At the same time, if you can find a model in good condition, this Ram poses a good value proposition on the used market. And as of now, it is still being sold new in the form of the 2023 Ram 1500 Classic, so that could help with things like parts.
The 2013 Ram 1500 has plenty of owner complaints
Unfortunately, when a truck has been around for so long, there are going to be some problem years. Even a best-selling truck like the Ford F-150 has never been perfect. It is just a part of the industry to sometimes produce duds.
The 2013 Ram 1500 is not all bad, but it does have more complaints than the 2012 model. And in the world of trucks, it’s probably not the worst pickup ever built. But if you are looking at the modern era, it is up there in terms of problems.
Of course, with proper care, you might be able to avoid some problems that are common with this full-size truck. With a vehicle that is 10 years old, it is important to stay up on things like maintenance. Various components could be reaching the end of their life, and it’s just a good idea to stay current on repair to ensure your truck is healthy.
The Ram 1500 Classic might be in danger
As I mentioned, Ram is still selling the fourth-gen 1500 in the Ram 1500 Classic. If you go on the company’s site, you’ll notice that options have become rather limited. This version of Ram’s truck first went on sale back in 2009, so it’s surprising that it’s still around in 2023.
It wouldn’t be a shock if the Ram 1500 Classic will be sunsetted in the near future, but we don’t know for sure right now.
